Gossip Girl est une série anglaise imaginée par Josh Schwartz et sa partenaire de production
Stéphanie Savage dans l’objectif de montrer l’influence des réseaux sociaux au sein de la jeunesse
New-Yorkaise. Diffusé entre 2007 et 2012, la série n’a pas connue instantanément le succès
espéré. Toutefois, au fil du temps, celle-ci à su s’imposer comme un véritable phénomène de
société au vue du scénario présenté.

Dans le cadre du tournage, la série Gossip Girl à été filmé à Manhattan, dans le quartier renommé
de l’Upper East Side. Le New York Palace hôtel, les marches légendaires du Metropolitan
Museum, ou encore l’Hotel Empire font partie des lieux incontournables de Gossip Girl.

En ce qui concerne les personnages phares de la série, nous retrouvons en tête d’affiche la peste
par excellence, Blair Waldorf, et sa meilleure amie, la magnifique Serena Van Der Woodsen. En
figure masculine, nous pouvons évoquer Dan Humphrey, écrivain issu du milieu modeste qui rêve
d’intégrer les plus grandes universités, le Grand Chuck Bass, homme à femme et milliardaire, et
enfin son meilleur ami, le très beau Nate Archibald.

La série se déclenche lorsque la fille la plus populaire de son lycée, Serena Van Der Woodsen est
aperçue à Manhattan après un long moment d’absence. La nouvelle va alors rapidement se
répandre grâce au forum d’une mystérieuse personne nommée « Gossip Girl ». Son retour va alors
faire l’objet de tensions avec sa meilleure amie Blair, à qui elle n’avait donnée aucunes nouvelles
lors de son départ. Dans les épisodes suivants, la jeune femme fortunée découvrira que Serena à
couché avec son petit ami, Nate Archibald, juste avant sa fuite dans le Connecticut. Malgré les
circonstances, les deux femmes parviendront à se réconcilier après certaines vengeances. Serena
fera alors la rencontre de Dan Humphrey avec qui elle vivra durant quelques temps, le grand
amour. Quant à Blair, celle-ci tombera entre les mains du terrible Chuck Basse le soir de sa
rupture avec Nate. A la fin de cette saison, les vieux démons de Serena resurgiront avec l’arrivée
d’une prétendue Georgina, qui la menacera de raconter son pire secret si elle n’accepte pas de
redevenir celle qu’elle était autrefois, c'est-à-dire alcoolique, et fêtarde. Pour parvenir à ses fins,
Georgina prendra l’identité de Sarah pour se rapprocher de Dan, le petit ami de Serena, et
parviendra à les séparer.

Cet aperçu global mérite désormais d’être approfondi. En réalité, de nombreux éléments que je
n’ai pas évoqués sont très importants pour comprendre l’enjeu de la série. Tout d’abord, si Serena
est revenue à Manhattan, c’était pour aller retrouver son petit frère Erik, qui avait commis une
tentative de suicide. Depuis ce jour, sa mère le cachait dans un centre, et racontait à ses amis qu’il
était parti en vacance pour maintenir sa réputation. Du côté de Nate, son père l’avait obligé à rester
avec Blair, car sa mère Eleanor Waldorf, allait introduire sa société en bourse. De plus, Nate,
dernier de la classe, avait été choisit comme représentant pour Darthmouth, université
prestigieuse, alors que Dan, premier dans toutes les matières, avait été refusé pour une histoire de
rang sociale. En effet, en appartenant à la haute société, l’argent apparaît dans cette série comme
un moyen facile pour obtenir tout ce que l’on désir. Par exemple, Chuck Bass était parvenu à
modifier tous ses documents officiels pour que quelqu’un le remplace lors d’un examen.
Cependant, être riche n’est pas tous les jours faciles pour des adolescents. En effet Barth, le père
de Chuck avait affirmé que chacune des occasions étaient un moyen pour que son fils devienne
quelqu’un d’important.
Pour ma part, cette série à été une belle découverte. J’ai été très impressionnés de voir que malgré
les 6 saisons, chacun des épisodes étaient intéressants. Maintenant, à vous de découvrir qui se
cache derrière le site des potins.

Gossip Girl is an English series imagined by Josh Schwartz and his production partner Stephanie
Savage in order to show the influence of social networks within the youth of New Yorker.
Broadcast between 2007 and 2012, the series was not an instant success. However, over time, the
latter has become a real social phenomenon in view of the scenario presented.

As part of the filming, the series Gossip Girl was filmed in Manhattan, in the famous
neighborhood of the Upper East Side. The New York Palace Hotel, the legendary steps of the
Metropolitan Museum, or the Empire Hotel are some of the must-see places in Gossip Girl.

In this serie, we find in headliner the pest by excellence, Blair Waldorf, and her best friend, the
beautiful Serena Van Der Woodsen. As a male figure, we can mention Dan Humphrey, a writer
from a modest background who dreams of entering the greatest universities, the Great Chuck
Bass, a woman's man and a billionaire, and finally his best friend, the very beautiful Nate
Archibald.

The series begins in a train station when the most popular girl in her high school, Serena Van Der
Woodsen is spotted in Manhattan after a long absence. The new will then quickly spread thanks to
the forum of a mysterious person who hides under the identity "Gossip Girl". Her return will cause
tensions with her best friend Blair, to whom she had not given any news when she left. In later
episodes, Blair will discover that Serena slept with her boyfriend, Nate Archibald, just before she
fled to Connecticut. After many revenges, the two women will manage to reconcile. Serena will
then meet Dan Humphrey with whom she will live the great love. As for Blair, she will fall into
the hands of the terrible Chuck Basse the night she broke up with Nate. At the end of this season,
Serena's old demons will resurface with the arrival of a so-called Georgina, who will threaten to
tell her worst secret if she doesn't accept to go back to being the alcoholic and party girl she once
was. To reach her ends, Georgina will take the identity of Sarah to get closer to Dan, Serena's
boyfriend, and will manage to separate them.

This short summary now deserves to be deepened to better understand the objective of the serie.
First of all, if Serena came back to Manhattan, it was to find her little brother Erik, who had
committed a suicide attempt. Since that day, his mother had placed him in a center for fear that
this event would damage his reputation. On Nate's side, his father had forced him to stay in couple
with Blair Waldorf because his mother, Eleanor Waldorf, was going to introduce its company on
the stock market. Moreover, the university for which Dan had made many sacrifices had preferres
to select Nate, last of the class, to his place, for a story of social rank. Indeed, by belonging to the
high society, money appears in this series as an easy way to get everything you want.

In conclusion, this series was a great discovery. I was very impressed to see that despite the 6
seasons, each episode was interesting. Now, to you to find out who is behind the gossip site.
