Eh oui, mme en cole d'ing, on du temps libre...

Alors on se disait, on ne sait pas pourquoi, que si tu venais chez nous, tu ne l'utiliserais pas que pour bosser. Je me trompe ? Comme a peut t'intresser de savoir ce qu'on fait en dehors des cours, nous autres tudiants, on t'a crit cette petite plaquette. En effet, a serait bte de ne pas tre au courant que le Grand Cercle est le plus gros BDE de France et qu'il organise des soires qui feraient plir d'envie n'importe qui. a serait bte aussi de ne pas savoir non plus qu'il y a tellement de clubs et assos que tu sais d'avance que tu ne pourras jamais aller tous dans ta vie d'tudiant. Et a serait encore plus bte de ne pas savoir que a commence ds la rentre, et mme avant... Et qui cest qui paye tout a : figures-toi que cest le groupe Grenoble INP qui en paye une bonne partie. Ds le moment o tu mets les pieds Grenoble ou Valence, la vie commence. Finies les heures perdues errer sans savoir que faire. Bienvenue chez les tudiants qui bougent, qui font la fte, qui font du sport et qui s'ouvrent aux autres. Le week-end de la rentre, on te prvoit dj un accueil la gare de Grenoble, une soire bar et un barbecue. Et ce, avant mme d'avoir vu quoi ressemblait le groupe Grenoble INP ! On ne t'en dit pas plus : contemple par toi-mme et lis cette plaquette qui parle d'elle-mme. On t'y prsente toute la vie tudiante (enfin une partie, parce qu'en fait on manque un peu de place). Bienvenue dans la plus grosse association de la rgion, dans le plus gros bureau des lves de France, bienvenue dans le groupe Grenoble INP ! So, what are you going to do with all that spare time?
We hope that if you have chosen to come here it isnt just to spend it all in the library. Were we wrong? Well, we thought that we would write a few words to tell you what us students actually do outside of the classroom. In other words, it would be a shame if you didnt know that the Grand Cercle is the largest students desk (BDE, Bureau des Elves) in France and that its nightlife would make anyone green with envy. It would also be a shame if you didnt know that there are so many clubs and associations that you would need more than one college career to experience them all. And it would be even more of a shame if you didnt know that this all starts as soon as you arrive, even before you arrive for some. And who is going to pay for all this? Grenoble Institute of Technology will pick up a large part of the bill. As soon as you set foot in Grenoble or in Valence, your student life starts. No more wandering around bored with nothing to do. Grenoble is a town for lively students, students who want to have fun, students who like sport and students who love to meet new people. For your first weekend here, we have already planned a welcoming party to meet you at the station, a barbecue and a night out at the local bars. And you wont even have stepped foot inside a Grenoble Institute of Technology classroom. We wont say any more. Well just let you discover it by yourself in this brochure. It will tell you all the aspects of student life (well, a glimpse of them at least, we lack a bit of space to be honest). Tu auras alors facilement loccasion de trouver des gens avec qui jouer de ton instrument prfr, pratiquer ta danse de prdilection (Rock, DDR), les checs ou les jeux de rle, devenir un dieu ou une desse du jonglage, profiter de limmense bibliothque du club BD Et cest surtout loccasion de rencontrer des gens qui ont les mmes envies que toi, faire partie dune quipe et tinvestir dans le domaine que tu souhaites.

Looking for adventure, to organize events or just to practice your favorite pastime with like minded people? You will have no problem finding something for you.
Around 30 clubs and associations are open to you. You can easily find people to play music with, go dancing however you like (clubbing or even DDR), play chess or role playing games, become a demon (or demoness) juggler or explore the extensive comic club library. Above all, it is a great opportunity to meet like minded people with similar interests and explore whatever avenues you wish.

The clubs and associations really make everyday life for the students of Grenoble Institute of Technology (and even for all the other students in Grenoble) more exciting and interesting. Many of the clubs have become very well known for their enthusiasm and dynamism, which is a real benefit to all their members. I think you understand that as far as clubs and associations go, you cant get any better. So dont hesitate to come along and take advantage of all the opportunities on offer and, who knows, maybe even become one of the many who help to make things exciting at Grenoble Institute of Technology by running a club or association.

Seulement trois pages pour les vnements... On fera avec. On va passer rapidement sur les grands classiques. videmment, dans une ville comme Grenoble, avec 60 000 tudiants, c'est mission impossible de trouver un jour o il ne se passe rien. A Valence aussi, avec 9 500 tudiants, a bouge pas mal !
Only three pages for the events? Ok, lets give it a go. Turning quickly to the traditional events. Naturally, in a town like Grenoble with 60,000 students, it is mission impossible to find a day when nothing is going on. The 9,500 students of Valence are not at a loss either.

LA SOIRE D'INTGRATION
INCOMING FRESHMAN NIGHT

L'vnement phare du groupe Grenoble INP l'intgration, c'est videmment la soire d'int. C'est la toute premire soire de l'anne, et autant dire que c'est vraiment quelque chose ne pas rater. 2 jours aprs ton arrive, retrouve tous les tudiants pour danser toute la nuit. Une bote immense, une piscine, tout le monde press de faire connaissance : l'alchimie est l. De quoi s'clater vraiment comme des fous. peu prs 1 700 personnes sont attendues, c'est dire...
The highlight of Grenoble Institute of Technology during registration is clearly the Incoming Freshman Night. It is the first night out of the year and is obviously not to be missed. 2 days after your arrival, all the incoming students meet up to dance the night away. An enormous nightclub, a swimming pool, over 1,700 students getting to know each other: the chemistry is all there. A wild night out!

Donc oui, on l'avoue, il y a des soires plus d'une fois par semaine. On y voit des gens de partout : ingnieurs, mais aussi mdecine, science, droit... Telle est la dure vie de l'tudiant : on ne sait jamais dans quelle soire aller. Tous tes jeudis soir seront planifis, c'est garanti. (Mais aussi peut-tre tes mardis, tes mercredis...) Certains essayent de tout faire : c'est un vritable dfi, on te le dconseille.

LE GALA THE GALA

Mesdames, mesdemoiselles et messieurs sortez vos robes de soires et vos costumes ! Au programme casino, rock, jazz, gospel, discothque, lounge, ainsi que de nombreuses autres animations vous attendent pour passer une soire exceptionnelle autour dune coupe. C'est la soire de prestige du groupe Grenoble INP. Elle a lieu aprs la remise des diplmes et en gnral les diplms sont gnreux Plus de 2 000 personnes s'y rendent.

IL FAUT QUAND MME BOSSER UN MINIMUM, NON ?

Comme on n'a pas trop de place pour dtailler, on va juste se concentrer sur les manifestations vraiment incontournables. Voici la liste des vnements o les tudiants seront tous l parce que A ENVERRA GRAVE DU LOURD.

Ladies and gentlemen, put on your finest evening wear for the most prestigious evening of Grenoble Institute of Technology. So, yes, we admit it, there is more than one night out a week. You meet all sorts of people, not only people studying engineering but also medicine, sciences, law, etc. It is a hard life being a student, especially when you have to choose where you are going to go for a night out. Each Thursday night will be a big party thats for sure (maybe the Tuesdays as well, perhaps Wednesdays). Some people try to do it all: a real challenge and probably not to be recommended. This takes place after the graduating ceremony and the graduates are often in high spirits. A panoply of events including a casino, rock music, jazz, gospel, a disco, lounge singing and a host of other events await you. A night to remember guaranteed. There are usually over 2,000 people attending.

Ici, c'est le moment o se mesurent tous les tudiants dans un grand tournoi sportif. Ultimate, Athltisme, Basket, Volley, Foot, Rugby, Handball : on peut reprsenter sa filire ingnieur ou tenter de remporter le prix des supporters attribu par le Grand Cercle. On joue, on rigole, l'ambiance est bon enfant et c'est le genre de chose qu'on ne peut avoir qu' Grenoble. Prpares-toi donner de tes muscles pour que ta promo ne soit pas en reste.
This is a massive sports tournament for all the students to compete in. Whether you prefer Ultimate, Athletics, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Rugby or Handball: you can compete for your branch or try to win the best supporters prize awarded by the Grand Cercle. The whole atmosphere is very sporting and its the kind of thing that could only happen in Grenoble. So get ready to give your muscles a workout.

The elected student representatives of Grenoble Institute of Technology are there to answer questions about your course or the Institute in general.

LEUR RLE ? Fdrer et renforcer les initiatives qui, tous les niveaux, peuvent permettre lamlioration des formations ou de la vie tudiante au sens large. Ils participent aussi de nombreuses commissions interuniversitaires (BU, Amnagement du Campus, EVE). AVEC NOS 12 LUS, dont un Vice-Prsident Etudiant, nous sommes pleinement associs aux grands dossiers du groupe Grenoble INP pour reprsenter les lves ingnieurs dans les diffrentes instances de dcision : 5 reprsentants tudiants lus 6 au Conseil des Etudes et au Conseil dadministration (CA) de la Vie Universitaire (CEVU)
Their role? To reinforce the initiatives which, at all levels, can improve the courses on offer or student life in a larger sense. They also participate in several inter-university commissions (University Library, Campus improvement, Student Life Center, etc.). Through our 12 representatives, including 1 Student Vice President, we are fully involved in the important projects of Grenoble Institute of Technology and represent the engineering students at different points of the decision making process: 5 elected student representatives at the University Board (CA) 6 elected student representatives at the Council for Study and University Life (CEVU) 1 elected student representative at the Scientific Council (CS)

Chaque anne, en octobre, le Grand Cercle organise un grand concert gratuit en plein air. L'anne dernire c'tait les groupes "Domb" (Trance/ Drum&Bass/Roots) et HiLIGHT Tribe qui jouaient. Comment dire ... un concert gratuit, 6 000 personnes de tous horizons. Cette anne ce sera encore plus ouf ! C'est pas pour rien qu'on a sacr ce jeudi jour le plus chaud de l'automne.
In October each year, the Grand Cercle organizes a massive open air concert. Last year "Domb" (Trance/Drum&Bass/Roots) and "HiLIGHT Tribe" were playing. A free concert organized with Eve, 6,000 people from all over the town. This time, it will be even crazier ! Its not for nothing that this day ended up being called the hottest day of the fall.

ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS

BEST, pour Board of European Students of Technology, a t cre il y a plus de 10 ans, linitiative dtudiants du groupe. Elle rassemble un rseau dtudiants qui sadresse plus de 300 000 tudiants europens. Tu peux ainsi partir dans une cinquantaine de villes europennes pour un prix dfiant toute concurrence, tout au long de lanne. Que la soif dacqurir de nouvelles connaissances et de rencontrer dautres tudiant(e)s te prenne, BEST sera toujours l pour te proposer une activit inoubliable, sur tous les thmes (plus de 45). Toutes ces manifestations sont exclusivement organises pour des tudiants.

A Grenoble, nous avons ralis un projet au Cameroun. Il sagissait de raliser 4 forages dans un village, Bongo, pour permettre un accs leau potable. De nouveaux projets tattendent si tu dsires aider les moins favoriss. Nous menons galement des actions de sensibilisation aux problmes de ces pays pauvres, auprs de la population tudiante, notamment au travers dexpositions sur des thmes comme lingnieur citoyen ou le commerce quitable. Si tu veux voir les choses bouger ou permettre dautres douvrir les yeux sur ces problmes, viens nous rejoindre !

ODYSSE 4L
Le raid 4L Trophy est une longue course au Maroc, dans la chaleur, au milieu de paysages idylliques, sans eau, avec des chameaux parfois, bref dans le dsert, et pas en 4x4 mais en 4L. Les rgles sont simples : venir en 4L et finir la course, en apportant plusieurs kilos de fournitures scolaires pour les coles marocaines : 6 000 Km, en passant par lEspagne. Pour le moment, on ne peut pas faire les malins avec les classements de nos prcdentes participations, tant donn que lasso est encore jeune. Par contre, on sait dj que lanne prochaine on aura besoin de toi pour pousser !

Grenoble Institute of Technology has already organized a project in Cameroon. We set up 4 wells in the village of Bongo for the provision of drinking water. New projects are being developed if you want to help the disadvantaged. We also undertake projects to raise the awareness of problems in developing countries, notably through exhibitions based along certain themes, such as social responsibility in engineering or fair trade. If you want to make a difference or make others aware of these problems, we can do it together.

BEST, Board of European Students of Technology, was created by Grenoble Institute of Technology students over 10 years ago. It has created a network of over 300,000 students throughout Europe. Through this network it is possible to visit over 50 European cities at very little cost, throughout the year. When the desire for new experiences or to meet new people comes over you BEST will be there to organize a memorable trip along a variety of themes (over 45). All of these activities are organized exclusively for students.

The 4L Trophy is a rally through the stunning landscape of the Morocco desert, in the heat and sometimes even alongside the camels, but in a 4L, not a 4X4. The rules are simple: turn up in a 4L and finish the race, bringing along the way several kilos of school material for the local schools. In other words, 6,000 km of travel via Spain. For the moment, our performances in the rally itself have not been much to write home about, the association being relatively new. On the other hand, we are sure that you can help us next year at least to give us a push.

Tes annes Grenoble ou Valence te transformeront sans doute en dieu du ski ou de l'escalade. Soleil, montagne et neige t'attendent. Sauras-tu en profiter ?
No doubt your time at Grenoble or Valence will turn you into an expert skier. The spectacular mountains and powder snow are awaiting you below azure skies. Will you be able to take advantage of it?

Une bonne dizaine de stations environnent Grenoble. En tant qu'tudiant, tu auras la possibilit d'avoir des forfaits pas chers aux 2 Alpes et aux 7 Laux. Tu pourras narguer tes potes qui viennent, en payant ton forfait 3 fois moins cher queux. Satisfait ? Attends : en plus de cela, le ski peut aussi tre pris en sport not dans le groupe Grenoble INP. Du sport not ? Eh oui, on est ingnieur, on se doit d'tre polyvalent : il y a normment de possibilits de sport, du plus classique (foot, rugby) au plus exotique (golf, quitation, plonge, eh oui ! mme ici au coeur des montagnes!).
There are a dozen resorts on the outskirts of the city. As a student you will get reductions on ski lifts at Les 2 Alpes and Les 7 Laux. You will be the envy of your friends who come to visit, as you pay a third of the price. Not only that, you can get class credit for skiing at Grenoble Institute of Technology. Credit for sport? Yes, we may be engineers, but it is important to be well rounded. There is a wide range of sports on offer from football and rugby to golf and horse riding and even scuba diving.

Deux jours daventure en montagne, a te dit ? Alors viens participer mi-mai lun des plus grands raids tudiants de France, qui existe depuis 14 ans. Les 30 meilleures quipes slectionnes au prologue, s'affronteront sur un parcours de 130 km et sur plus de 5000 m de dnivel. Tu auras loccasion de pratiquer des sports aussi varis que le VTT, le bike board, le cano, la course d'orientation, tyrolienne, le rappel, le tir l'arc ou le biathlon Cette anne, direction le massif de Chartreuse, entre Savoie et Isre. Le Raid, cest aussi une quipe dorganisateurs qui relvent chaque anne le dfi de faire mieux que ldition prcdente.

Two days of mountain adventure, does that appeal? If so come and participate in one of the largest student adventure races in France. You will have the chance to practice activities as varied as mountain biking, Bike Boarding, canoeing, orienteering, tyroleans, abseiling, archery or biathlon all over a course of 130km with 5,000 m of altitude change. This time, it will take place in the "Massif de Chartreuse", between Savoie and Isre. Si tu te sens prt craser les adversaires, vaincre l'adversit, le vent, les vagues, si tu veux te lancer dans le partenariat, mettre le spi, activer la manivelle de winch, l'anne prochaine on est tous avec toi !
A crazy week, the incredible atmosphere of 3,000 students, 250 boats taking part in all manner of regattas, 40 teams competing for the land trophy Embark with the sailin(p)g club to the Edhec Cup. If you are ready to combat the wind, the waves and all manner of adversity to emerge victorious, if you want to be at the heart of a team, hoisting the spinnaker or turning the winch, next year we will be with you.

Tu prfres la montagne la plage, tu prfres les espaces verts mais en arrivant Grenoble tu ne connais pas les petits coins de paradis qui t'entourent. Le club rando, c'est tout a : un choix vari d'itinraires, pour bon marcheur ou simple dbutant, mais chaque fois, tu trouveras que Grenoble est plus jolie vue de haut En arrivant Valence, c'est tout le Vercors qui s'offre toi, pour de simples balades ou les plus vertigineuses escalades.
You might prefer the wilderness of the mountains to the beach but you can be sure that you wont have experienced anything like the richness and beauty of the mountains around Grenoble. The hiking club will offer you a choice of itineraries, with a range of options for the beginner to the experienced hiker. No matter which path you take, you are sure to find that Grenoble is even more beautiful seen from above. Valence is in the foothills of the Vercors massif. You can go for easy walks or climb virtiginous rocks : it's up to you.

On a deux ou trois trucs avant que tu retournes travailler et rviser pour les concours : merci davoir tout lu, tu es plus courageux que nous il y a trois ans. Te fais pas avoir par les autres plaquettes des lves. Les choses importantes retenir sur le groupe Grenoble INP lorsque tu feras ton choix dfinitif de ton cole :

Pas de problmes, grce aux junior-entreprises et aux junior-conseils du groupe Grenoble INP : viens mettre tes comptences (si, si, ten as, tas pas oubli, tes lve ingnieur) au service dun grand nombre dentreprises partenaires (Siemens, EDF, Alcatel, Schneider Electric, BMW, Air Liquide et plein dautres). Tu raliseras des vraies missions, avec de vraies responsabilits et des enjeux. Tout a, sur tes paules de champion de loptimisation des performances des entreprises, comme on le dit si bien dans notre plaquette. Et quelle que soit ton cole, tu as toute ta place. Informatique, nergie, environnement, logistique, etc., mme le marketing : on est bon partout. Allez, viens nous voir ds la rentre, on va tourner la roue de la fortune. Et rendre ton CV digne dun Bernard Arnault ou dun Steve Jobs. En plus, cest facile de nous trouver, on est prsent dans toutes les coles.

Ah au fait, pour les concours, ne fais pas limpasse sur les sries de Fourier (a tombe tout le temps aux oraux). Bientt Schrdinger et tous ses acolytes ne seront plus quun souvenir. On te dit pas bonne chance, vu que a na rien voir, mais par contre bientt (dans le groupe Grenoble INP peuttre). En tout cas, on tattend de pied ferme
