1. Introduction

It is planned to upgrade mobile service at Assosa region Yaso site of the existing temporary
enterprise c-band VSAT network to Ku band of CBH VSAT network. Transmission from
BSC/RNC network to BTS at Yaso is Jupiter VSAT as shown on the topology below. This Cellular
backhaul (CBH)VSAT solution is providing 2G/3G services.

Fig-1 Topology for Nekemt MSC/RNC to Dalati BTS.

As it shown on the topology the interconnection will be between nekemt MSC/RNC to Yaso BTS
through satellite. Transmitting call from mobile or fixed user path through Nekemt MSC/RNC is
connect to sululta ASR router through fiber link and routing to Jupiter satellite Modem which is
transmitting to satellite. Yaso remote VSAT Modem HT2500 receives from satellite and
transmitting to BBU modem for Yaso BTS site. For the receive side Daleti VSAT modem HT2500
receives information from Yaso BTS and transmitting to satellite(IS-33e). Jupiter HUB satellite
modem cluster(SMC) at Sululta E/S receives from satellite and transmit to Nekemt MSC/RNC
through Sululta ASR, NE40E-6k PE router, Addis Ababa IP core cloud and Addis to Nekemt fiber
link.

Length of each cable Tx/Rx is depends on the
survey result(distance from antenna to
modem). But both TX & Rx cable each not
Coaxial RG-6 cable 2 more than 30m.If more than 30m due to survey
result of the site, it requires to use line
amplifier on both Tx/Rx path or use RG-11
cable with RG-11 connector

4. Consideration
✓ Modem interface is GigE LAN port to connect BBU RAN equipment and F- type connecter
75 ohm, RG-6 IFL cable to connect LNB antenna side
✓ Site survey will be done during the installation to minimize the length of coaxial cable and
to ensure that there is no blockage between antenna and IS-33e Intelsat satellite.
✓ The existing C-band antenna, Modem, LNB and BUC should decommission, dismantle
and shipped to WH

5. power Required
Remote VSAT HT2500 Modem power supply is 48v DC ).
