de tramway du rseau RATP reliera
Chtillon (Hauts-de-Seine) Viroflay
(Yvelines). Longue de 14 km, cette
ligne nouvelle de tramway sur pneus
guidage central vise faciliter les
dplacements des 150 000 personnes
vivant ou travaillant moins de 500 m
de la ligne : elle amliore notamment
la desserte de Vlizy-Villacoublay et
de son ple dactivit. Le trac de
cette ligne a t conu pour favoriser
les correspondances avec le rseau
dj existant dans le sud-ouest parisien : ligne 13 du mtro (Chtillon),

1 - General overview ofthe project and the projectmanagement consortiumWhen it enters service, the sixth tram
route on the RATP network will link
Chtillon (Hauts-de-Seine) with
Viroflay (Yvelines). With a total length
of 14km, this new centrally-guided,
tyre-mounted tramway is designed to
facilitate the journeys of the 150,000
people who live or work within
500 metres of the route. In particular,
it will improve access to Vlizy-Villacoublay and its business park. The
route has been designed to provide as
many interchanges as possible with
existing networks to the south-west of
Paris. These include Metro line 13

tium has chosen the theme of transparency, designing cathedral type stations that are open between platform
level and the slab of the technical premises located beneath the road. Elegant arches span the tramway
platform, echoing the arches of the
adjacent railway bridge one of Viroflays iconic structures. Steel mezzanines installed to accommodate
passenger foot traffic are suspended
from the arches. The rough finish of the
exposed diaphragm walls contrasts with
the light-coloured concrete arches and
the refined detailing of equipment and
surface finishes: basalt and granite
platforms, oak flooring on the mezzanines, and polished concrete spandrels
for the stations.
The route has been tailored to the locations of stations and immediately adjacent railway infrastructures (the support
wall and foundations of the SNCF Viroflay Rive Gauche passenger building
and the Viroflay Rive Droite embankments and platforms), topographic
considerations and limits imposed by

The slurry manufacturing and processing plant was similarly affected. Manufacturing, processing and storage of the
450 m3 of slurry had to be contained
within a 150 m2 area for each station.
This involved heavy handling gear and
a specific procedure enabling the
equipment to be installed on five levels.
The Viroflay Rive Droite station
Running alongside the SNCF tracks,
the southernmost end of the diaphragm wall for the Viroflay Rive
Droite station is also adjacent to the
existing platform some three metres
lower than the future wall. Consequently, the platform had to be partly
demolished prior to the diaphragm
wall being built, with the adjacent
tracks being supported by a retaining
wall consisting of micropiles.
Given that SNCF equipment had to
remain on the platform, the lack of
space required the team to find a way
of drilling the micropiles without locating a drilling machine adjacent to the
micropiles themselves.
As a result, the micropiles were drilled
on the platform using a short rail
mounted on a Kobelco Acrobat excavator, installed on a platform beneath
the level of the station platform.

ouvrages mergents : le puits dentre, le puits de secours et de ventilation, la station Viroflay Rive Gauche et
la station Viroflay Rive Droite avec sa
galerie darrire gare de 95 ml.
Le creusement entre ces 4 ouvrages
se fait laide dun tunnelier Herrenknecht pression de terre, pralablement utilis sur le chantier du
prolongement de la ligne 12 (9,17 m
de diamtre pour une galerie finie de
8,00 m, compose danneaux de
7 voussoirs de 0,40 m dpaisseur et
de 1,80 m de longueur).
Le dmarrage du creusement prvu
en mars 2013 se fera depuis le puits
dentre.
Actuellement, le tunnelier est en cours
de reconditionnement et de montage
depuis son arrive sur le chantier en
fvrier/mars 2012. De gros travaux de
soudure sont actuellement raliss
pour rassembler les lments de la
roue de coupe et de la jupe non transportables ( 9,17 m) en un seul bloc.
Les remorques sont dj positionnes
sur le radier du train suiveur en
surface.

a. Le puits dentre et
ses installations
Ce site, base vie principale du chantier, est situ en milieu forestier sur la
commune de Vlizy.
Lors de la ralisation de louvrage, il est
ncessaire de procder, pour les travaux de parois moules, en deux
phases afin de dvier provisoirement
sur la dalle ouest de louvrage, la RD53.
Aprs terrassement, le radier est
ralis, ainsi que les travaux damnagement permettant daccueillir le
tunnelier.
Le bouclier du tunnelier, mont lextrieur, sera rip jusqu son point de
dmarrage. Suivra alors le montage
du bti de pousse, le raccordement
entre le bouclier et les remorques du
tunnelier, le montage des deux
premiers anneaux, la ralisation
dun mur masque autour du premier
anneau qui permettra de crer un sarcophage dans lequel se trouvera le
bouclier.
Aprs remplissage de ce sarcophage,
le tunnelier pourra enfin dmarrer le
creusement en toute scurit.
