Je viens très respectueusement vous soumettre une proposition de parrainage (mécénat et/ou
sponsoring) afin de poursuivre mes études musicales supérieures au BERKLEE College of Music de
Boston.

Je m'appelle Paul Vanier de Saint Aunay, j'ai 22 ans. La musique a toujours fait partie de ma vie et de
mon âme, c’est ma Vocation. Je suis né en 2000 dans une famille de musiciens, ma mère est pianiste et
mon père chanteur, bassiste et guitariste. Baigné très tôt dans la musique, je commence à jouer du piano
à l'âge de 4 ans. Après une douzaine d'années de formation classique au Conservatoire de Chantilly
(Oise), où je m'essaye aussi à la trompette, au Jazz et à la musique de chambre, je décide de poursuivre
mes études supérieures dans la musique. En 2018, mon Bac scientifique mention Très Bien en poche, je
passe plusieurs concours et suis admis dans la classe Jazz du Conservatoire du 9ème arrondissement de
Paris, ainsi qu'en deuxième année du cycle professionnel de l'IMEP Paris College of Music. Pendant
quatre années, je me perfectionne au piano, j’étudie l’harmonie Jazz, l’arrangement, la composition, et
j'ai la chance de côtoyer d'excellents professeurs tels que Paul Lay (Victoire du Jazz 2020) ou Rick
Margitza (Miles Davis).

En parallèle de mes études, je multiplie les expériences professionnelles en m’investissant dans de

nombreux projets musicaux notamment DANS LE KOSMOS, groupe Indie Electro-Pop (finaliste du
Festival ZebRock, enregistrement EP studio et B.O du film Le Nouveau Jouet) et BUTTER NOTE, quartet
Modern-Jazz (enregistrement live à l'Abbey Road Institute Paris, Festival Jazz au Sud du Nord Corbeil-
Essonne...). J'ai également l’occasion d'enregistrer à l'Ecole nationale supérieure Louis Lumière la B.O du
film de Néhémie Lemal Ceux qui restent et ceux qui fuient, ou encore de jouer en live sur les ondes de
TSF Jazz (89.9 FM) aux côtés de David Paycha à la batterie (CNSMD de Paris, Zoot Collectif) et de Nicolas
Jacobée à la contrebasse (CNSMD de Lyon).

En juin 2022, parrainé par l’organiste américaine Rhoda Scott, je valide avec les honneurs le diplôme de
l’IMEP Paris College of Music, et passe une audition pour intégrer le prestigieux BERKLEE College of
Music, auquel je suis admis avec une bourse annuelle de la moitié des frais de scolarité. Fin août 2022, je
m’envole pour les Etats-Unis afin d’y poursuivre un Bachelor of Music Degree, cursus universitaire
complet de 4 années (8 semestres).

A mon arrivée à Boston, je prends la mesure de l’immense opportunité qui m’est offerte, celle de
rejoindre l’une des écoles de musique les plus renommées au monde, comptant parmi ses rangs
d’anciens élèves tels que Quincy Jones, Diana Krall, Brad Mehldau, Keith Jarrett, Charlie Puth ou encore
Alexandre Desplat. Je découvre un établissement fabuleux, qui ne ressemble à aucun autre, avec près de
4000 étudiants, musiciens et professionnels de la musique venus du monde entier, et qui offre de réels
débouchés de carrière dans l’industrie musicale. L’enseignement qui m’y est prodigué est très complet,
de la performance piano Jazz, à l’écriture, l’harmonie, la composition ou la conduction d’orchestre, en
passant les techniques d’enregistrement, de mixage et de production musicale. Fort de cette émulation,
je noue beaucoup de liens et de nouveaux projets artistiques naissent en quelques semaines : un Tribute
au pianiste Cedar Walton, un Tribute au Pat Metheny Group, ainsi que Beyond Niagara, un Trio Indie
Electro-House (EP Studio sorti en janvier 2023). Enfin, en mars 2023, je suis sélectionné par le
département piano pour participer au Keys Fest 2023. J’ai l’occasion de me produire en solo au Berk
Recital Hall de Boston.

En outre, conscient de ma chance, je mets tout en œuvre pour limiter les dépenses annexes à la bourse
qui m’a été accordée (frais de scolarité restants, de logement, de nourriture, assurance santé,…). Mes
parents ayant des revenus modestes, je travaille sur le Campus en tant que pianiste accompagnateur du
département Voix, tuteur de Français, et technicien Son. Enfin, mon implication scolaire est maximale et
j’obtiens d’excellents résultats académiques à la fin du premier semestre (inscription sur la Dean’s list),
ainsi qu’un Award en Jazz Performance en mars 2023, me rendant ainsi passablement éligible à la
prochaine Berklee Thrive Scholarship, commission de révision des bourses d’études au mérite, qui se
tient généralement l’été.

Malgré tout, la somme totale des frais à engager jusqu’à la fin du cursus en mai 2026 reste très
importante et, sans une aucune aide financière extérieure, la poursuite de mes études est largement
compromise. C’est pourquoi je me permets de solliciter votre aide et votre soutien financier, pensant
sincèrement être un candidat idéal au parrainage.

(89.9 FM) aux côtés de David Paycha à la batterie (CNSMD de

nous avons eu l’opportunité de témoigner de nos parcours
musicaux respectifs et de promotionner la première édition 2022

participe à un quartet Modern jazz dirigé par le professeur
d’ensembles Marcello Pellitteri, avec d’autres étudiants (Landon
Frayser au saxophone, Connor Norton à la basse et Jake
Rosenkalt à la batterie). Nous avons l’occasion de nous produire
en décembre 2022 au Oliver Colvin Hall de Boston, lors d’un
concert hommage au pianiste américain Cedar Walton.

Je rejoins le groupe DANS LE KOSMOS en 2020. Finalistes du festival

ZebRock en 2021, nous bénéficions d’un management professionnel
comprenant un coaching vocal et scénique ainsi qu’une
programmation de concerts parisiens (la Bellevilloise, les Disquaires,
le Théâtre main d’oeuvres…). En octobre 2022, nous sortons notre
premier EP studio dont l’un des singles « Let me play with my toy »
est choisi comme générique de fin du film Le Nouveau Jouet avec
Daniel Auteuil et Jamel Debouze. Fort de cette expérience, je deviens
compositeur sociétaire de la SACEM.

compose, arrange, enregistre et co-produit. Nous sortons notre premier

To whom it may concern

Paul Vanier de Saint Aunay was a student in my 4th year harmony/arranging

class last year at the IMEP in Paris.

The class was split into two sections; the first focusing on
composition/arranging/ear training, which focused on the following subjects:
counterpoint, arranging for 2, 3 and 4 horns, reharmonization of standards,
recognizing and then integrating the modes of the major and melodic minor
scales into original compositions, formal analysis of a large scale composition
(the first movement of Mahler’s 5th Symphony) and an introduction to writing for
big band; the second section was spent playing/improvising with the focus on the
following subjects: transcription and analysis of solos from the bebop and post
bebop eras, pratice methods which focused on absorbing and integrating the
bebop/post bop vocabulary into one’s playing and then transforming/extending
this language into one’s own personal language/style.

I found Paul to be naturally talented and more importantly, highly motivated. His
growth over the course of the year was obvious and inspiring. He absorbed,
worked on and implemented the material on which we worked. He was and
continues to be dedicated to the pursuit of his goals, those being a better and
more perfect understanding of the craft of composition/arranging and the
mastery of his intrument. It was a pleasure to have him in class as he was
always on time, professional, courteous and worked well with the other students.

I whole heartedly endorse him for acceptance into your program and recommend
him as being worthy for as much financial aid as possible. I can not think of a
more qualified candidate and fell that he would be an asset to your program.

nécessitent un budget financier très conséquent, je m’efforce de mettre en place des stratégies pour réduire
