1.2 Détermination d’une solution de base réalisable.
L’existence d’une solution de base réalisable exige que la matrice de
base B soit inversible. Si la solution de base réalisable courante du programme
linéaire n’est pas optimale, alors la recherche d’une nouvelle solution de base
s’impose qui nécessite le choix d’un nouveau vecteur de base.
1.3 Recherche d’un nouveau vecteur de base
A chaque itération la méthode simplexe évolue de la solution de base
réalisable courante à une meilleure solution en remplaçant une variable de base
du vecteur de base courant non optimal (variable de base sortante) par une
variable hors-base (variable de base entrante) engendrant ainsi une nouvelle
solution de base réalisable qui améliore la valeur de la fonction- objectif.
1.4 Critère de sélection de la variable de base entrante et de la variable
de base sortante
La sélection de la variable de base entrante et de la variable de base
sortante se fait selon deux critères :
- Critère 1 : Le critère faible du taux maximal de variation de la fonction -
objectif
- Critère 2 : Le critère fort de la variation maximale de la fonction- objectif.
Ces opérations peuvent être synthétisées par le tableau suivant qui n’est
autre que la forme fondamentale du tableau du simplexe.

2. Algorithme des tableaux du simplexe
La résolution d’un programme linéaire par la méthode du simplexe est
généralement représentée sous forme de tableaux successifs appelés tableaux
du simplexe.
L’algorithme des tableaux du simplexe est synthétisation de l’algorithme
matricielle du simplexe déjà développé.
2.1 Etapes essentielles
L’algorithme des tableaux du simplexe se déroule en 7 étapes.
Etape 0 :
- Mettre le PL sous la forme standard du simplexe.
- Choisir systématiquement comme variables de base dans chacune des
contraintes les variables secondaires ayant un coefficient 1 dans le
système de contraintes sous forme standard.
- Construire le tableau initial du simplexe.

2.2 Remarques pertinentes
Dans le déroulement de l’algorithme du simplexe les remarques suivantes
peuvent être mises à profit.
1) Si dans la colonne du pivot un élément est nul, la ligne correspondante ne
change pas.
2) Si dans la ligne du pivot, un élément est nul alors la colonne correspondante
ne change pas.
3) Si la variable x j est dans la base c’est-à-dire j J B alors :
la colonne du tableau du simplexe correspondant à la variable de base
x j est un vecteur colonne unitaire dont l’élément unité se trouve à
l’intersection de la ligne et de la colonne de x j :

a) Dégénérescence de Première Espèce
Il y a dégénérescence de première espèce à l’optimum d’un PL si le gain
marginal d’une variable hors-base est nulle à l’optimum c’est-à-dire :

d) Remarques
Il n’est pas exclu d’observer à la fois des dégénérescences de première et
deuxième espèce à l’optimum d’un programme linéaire.
2.4 Conséquences de la dualité dans l’algorithme du tableau
du simplexe
a) Détermination de la solution optimale du PLdual (resp. primal) étant
donnée la solution optimale du PL primal (resp. dual) :
Supposons que les programmes linéaires PLI et PLII en dualité ont des solutions
optimales finies, alors on a les propriétés suivantes.

3.1 Algorithme du tableau du simplexe à deux phases
a) Condition d’application
Cet algorithme s’applique dans le cas où la forme standard du simplexe
du PL comporte des variables artificielles.
Elle a l’avantage d’éviter les calculs encombrant avec les coefficients de
pénalité M.
b) Principe de l’algorithme
Il procède en 2 phases :

Dans cette première phase (phase 1). On applique l’algorithme du simplexe
pour résoudre le PL de maximisation (resp. de minimisation) sous forme

La phase 2 de l’algorithme du simplexe peut donc se dérouler sans
difficulté à partir de ce tableau.
3.2 Algorithme Dual du Simplexe
L’algorithme dual du simplexe peut-être considéré comme l’image par
miroir de l’algorithme primal du simplexe, étant donné les relations réciproques
entre les programmes linéaires primal et dual. En plus, l’algorithme dual du
simplexe traite un PL comme si l’algorithme du simplexe était simultanément
appliqué au PL primal et dual associé.
a) Conditions d’application
L’algorithme du Dual Simplexe s’applique à tout PL possédant une
solution de base de départ optimale mais non réalisable dont le PL dual associé
possède une base de départ réalisable.
On reconnaît une telle situation dans le tableau initial du simplexe du PL
obtenu d’abord en transformant le système de contraintes en système de
contraintes équivalentes du type 1, puis en mettant le système obtenu sous la
forme standard en ajoutant les variables d’écart.
Si le tableau initial obtenu comporte un élément négatif dans la colonne
des second-membres et si la condition d’optimalité est satisfaite, le PL peut
être traité par l’algorithme dual du simplexe.
b) Avantage de l’algorithme dual du simplexe
L’algorithme Dual du Simplexe lorsqu’il est applicable, a l’avantage par
rapport à l’algorithme primal du simplexe d’éviter l’utilisation des variables
artificielles et d’aboutir à une solution optimale réalisable en un nombre
moindres d’itérations.
c) Champs d’application de l’algorithme dual du simplexe
L’algorithme Dual du simplexe trouve son application dans l’analyse post
-optimale d’un PL, due à une modification ou à une parametrisation dans le
modèle linéaire engendrant une solution primale non-réalisable et dans la
résolution d’un programme linéaire en nombres entiers (PLE), si après avoir
obtenu la solution optimale du programme linéaire en nombres réels (PLR)
associé on ajoute une contrainte supplémentaire de restriction.
