The 8th Cannes Water Symposium will take place in Cannes from Monday 26th to Friday 30th of June 2006. This important meeting will have as subject Water and Cities. Actually, water is a vital issue for our planet and particularly for the cities which extend at a fulgurating speed : a political, social and economical issue as much as a scientic and academic challenge. The water problems are increasing and changing. Our actions are to be without respite, amplied, in order to solve them before it is, unfortunately, too late. I am convinced that Cannes due to its inuence particularly over the Mediterranean area and generally over the world, is the ideal place to gather every year the decision makers of the concerned countries. Many foreign Ministers, ofcials of international institutions such as UNESCO, the United Nations, Europe and the World Bank, professors and researchers, managers of private companies and public utilities, users and young managers, all of them will be able to take part in public meetings, debates and workshops. With their expertise, know how, experience and credibility they will enrich and enlighten this matter. Works of the 8th Cannes Water Symposium will found expression in a set of recommendations and decisions guiding the future of men and women over the planet. Thus Cannes, prestigious City of exchanges will strengthen its position as one of the most involved cities in the eld of water issues. Le 8me Cannes Water Symposium se droulera du lundi 26 juin au vendredi 30 juin 2006 Cannes. Cette importante manifestation aura pour thme "L'Eau et la Ville". Une manifestation qui acquiert, anne aprs anne, une importance considrable la hauteur de l'enjeu que l'Eau reprsente pour notre plante en gnral et dans les villes qui se dveloppent une vitesse fulgurante. Enjeu politique, social et conomique autant que d scientique et universitaire, les problmes lis leau dans les villes se multiplient et se diversient. Il faut amplier nos actions sans relche pour les rsoudre avant quil ne soit trop tard. Et Cannes, de par son rayonnement travers le monde constitue le point focal idal pour runir, annuellement, les dcideurs de tous les territoires concerns. Ministres de nombreux pays, dcideurs politiques et conomiques, dirigeants de socits professionnelles prives et de services publics, responsables au sein d'institutions internationales comme lUNESCO, les Nations Unies, l'Europe et la Banque Mondiale, professeurs et chercheurs, usagers et jeunes dcideurs, tous pourront intervenir dans les sances plnires et publiques, les dbats, les ateliers ainsi que dans les forums anims par les professionnels. Leur comptence, leur savoir-faire, leur exprience et leur crdibilit enrichiront et claireront le sujet. Les travaux du 8me Cannes Water Symposium se traduiront par un ensemble d'changes, de rencontres, de recommandations et de dcisions orientant directement lavenir des hommes et des femmes dans les villes et agglomrations de tous les continents.
