Cette rubrique regroupe des ouvrages d’intérêt général qui abordent plusieurs genres.
C’est ici que se retrouvent aussi le roman et le film d’aventures, genres inclassables par
excellence. Chaque section est subdivisée afin que l’on puisse retracer plus facilement les
ouvrages que l’on cherche. Il y aura donc une première partie consacrée aux ouvrages
généraux, aux études littéraires, une deuxième rubrique consacrée aux ouvrages sur le
cinéma, une troisième pour la télévision, et on terminera, le cas échéant, avec quelques
articles glanés de-ci de-là.

Tout le monde connaît Sherlock Holmes, mais son créateur est moins connu et le restant de son
oeuvre quasiment méconnu. Pourquoi un tel écart entre ce personnage de détective, qui est
devenu un mythe littéraire, et le reste de l'oeuvre de Conan Doyle ? En réinscrivant le cycle
holmesien dans un parcours littéraire et spirituel, le présent ouvrage souhaite replacer sur le
devant de la scène des textes fascinants tels que " Le Trou du Blue John " ou " Le Miroir d'argent
", Le Monde perdu ou " L'Horreur des altitudes ". Tout au long de sa carrière, Doyle présente la
particularité d'avoir écrit des nouvelles qui se rattachent aux trois genres auxquels la presse
périodique de l'époque ouvre ses colonnes : les récits policiers, fantastiques et de science-fiction.
Que cache une telle versatilité ? Y a-t-il cohérence ou rupture entre ces différents modes narratifs
? Existe-t-il des passerelles, un fil rouge qui traverserait l'écheveau de l'imaginaire doylien ?
L'objet du livre d'Hélène Machinal est de montrer les questionnements d'une plume en tension
perpétuelle entre un ancrage dans la rationalité et une dynamique de découverte de l'inconnu.
