Why ?
1 Cold blood
shell core
How ?
• abrupt shifts of postures
• sometimes external rewarming
The first danger is to pass the cold blood from the periphery
(the shell) to the center where is the heart (the core), which
retains heat longer. This mixing can result from fast changes of
position , may be from inopportune rewarming by hot bath or
heating blanket.
chauffante.

Here you can see the back flow of the cold blood stagnant in
the legs inclining the stretcher backward. The heart pass to
ventricular fibrillation.

If the first responder thinks

caution
gas insufflated
must be warmed
FIPS 15th World Congress, Tignes, april 2005
14
The rescuer must know
if the core temperature
is near the critical level (28-30°C)
A special thermometer is indispensable
tympanique)

Conclusion 1
Three conclusions :
First, I think each first responder must possess in case of necessity
- a special thermometer for hypothermia
- a warmer device for inhaled gases
… and not only in mountain and during the
winter !
I’m afraid it is not carried out in France
… even in winter and in mountain...
Trois conclusions :

Cold insufflation =
bear’s cobblestone
of resuscitation
Do you know the fable story « The bear and the gardiner »
wrote by the french poet La Fontaine ? The stupid bear will kill
the fly on the face of the sleeping gardiner… I regret for having
seen some behaviour like this.
comportements !
