SUMMARY
pH, e L e c t r i c a l c o n d u ç t i v i t y , d i s s o l v e d o x y g e n , a l k a l i n i t y ,
phosphorus and n i t r o g e n compounds, c h L o r o p h y L l - a and p h e o p i g -
ments. The i n j e c t i o n o f water r i c h i n oxygen d i d not resuspend
th'e sédiments and t h e absence o f bubbles showed t h a t t h e oxygen
had compLetely d i s s o l v e d .
Soon a f t e r oxygénation t h e d i f f é r e n c e i n oxygen c o n c e n t r a t i o n
i n t h e t r e a t e d e n c l o s u r e and i n t h e c o n t r o l was p r o g r e s s i v e l y
reduced u n t i L 26 t h november, when both t h e encLosures had t h e
same oxygen c o n c e n t r a t i o n . At t h e end o f t h e experïment C9th
december) t h e oxygen c o n c e n t r a t i o n i n t h e c o n t r o L was about U
m g / l , whereas i n t h e t r e a t e d e n c l o s u r e i t a t t a i n e d a c o n c e n t r a -
t i o n of 6 m g / L , a L t h o u g h i n t h e L a t t e r t h e oxygen consumption was
g r e a t e r than i n t h e c o n t r o l , owing t o f i s h r e s p i r a t i o n and t h e
i n c r e a s e d a c t i v i t y of a é r o b i c m i c r o o r g a n i s m s . The h i g h e r con-
c e n t r a t i o n s of t o t a l phosphorus ( T P ) , solubLe r e a c t i v e phospho-
rus (SRP) and ammonium (N-NHi,) measured i n t h e lake were p r o -
b a b l y due t o t h e e x t e r n a l l o a d i n g o f n u t r i e n t s . The n u t r i e n t
c o n c e n t r a t i o n s i n t h e t r e a t e d e n c l o s u r e were s i m i l a r t o those
of t h e c o n t r o l . The g r e a t e r c o n c e n t r a t i o n o f n u t r i e n t s was p r o -
b a b l y t h e cause o f more abundant phytopLankton i n t h e l a k e ,
u h i c h was a l s o demonstrated by t h e lower v a l u e s of water t r a n s -
p a r e n c y , when compared w i t h t h o s e measured i n b o t h t h e encLo-
s u r e s . The pH values o f t h e c o n t r o l were s i m i l a r t o those o f
the t r e a t e d e n c l o s u r e . The p a t t e r n o f abundance and species
composition of the zooplankton i n the t r e a t e d enclosure d i d
not d i f f e r from t h a t o f t h e c o n t r o l . The Entomostraca p o p u l a -
t i o n s decreased i n t h e take as w e l l as i n b o t h t h e e n c l o s u r e s
from the b e g i n n i n g t o t h e end of t h e e x p e r i m e n t .

l'expérience, les valeurs sont beaucoup plus élevées dans les enceintes
que dans le lac, probablement à cause de la plus faible densité de po-
pulation de phytoplancton dans les enceintes comme l'indique la diminu-
tion très marquée de la concentration de chlorophylle (le Disque Secchi
est visible jusqu'au fond des deux enceintes).

DISCUSSION ET CONCLUSIONS
Nos résultats sur le plancton concordent avec ceux qui furent trou-
vés par d'autres auteurs. SMITH et al. (1975), par exemple, trouvèrent
que le phytoplancton n'était pas influence de façon significative par
l'aération et McQUEEN et LEAN (1983) remarquèrent que la concentration
de chlorophylle ainsi que l'abondance de zooplancton semblent ne pas
être modifiées par l'aération. McQUEEN et STORY (1986) réduisirent la
croissance des algues par l'aération au printemps mais pas en d'autres
saisons. Les mêmes auteurs remarquèrent que la diversité, le nombre d'es-
pèces planctoniques et la concentration en chlorophylle du phytoplancton
