Asynchronous Examen oral 2

As indicated on the course syllabus, part of the requirement of the course is an Examen Oral,
which is worth 10% of your course grade. This project is an opportunity for you to present on a
topic related to this course and earn a grade in the Oral Exam category.

You are required to speak in French for 3-4 minutes and to record a video of you speaking
via Youtube and upload it to Blackboard. Note: you may set your video to private.

Monologue. Préparez un des scénarios ci-dessous:

Voici les sujets possibles :

1. Quelle est votre matière principale (major) à l’université de Syracuse ? Pourquoi étudiez-vous
ce sujet ? Si vous n’avez pas de matière principale, que pensez-vous faire après l’université ?
Quelle est votre carrière idéale et pourquoi ? Quels sont les avantages et les inconvénients de ce
métier ? Que faut-il faire (what is it necessary to do) pour réussir ? Enfin, pourquoi étudiez-vous
le français ? Quel va être le rôle du français dans votre vie après l’université ?

2. Vous parlez au téléphone avec votre oncle à propos du (about) président des États-Unis, mais
vous avez des opinions très différentes. Comparez le programme des conservateurs à celui des
libéraux. Quelles sont les différences et les similarités ? Est-ce que le gouvernement est
efficace ? Pourquoi ou pourquoi pas ? Quels sont les plus grands problèmes dans notre société
aujourd’hui ? Est-ce que le président a résolu certains de ces problèmes ? Faites-vous confiance
au président ? Pourquoi ou pourquoi pas ? Expliquez.

Servez-vous (use)
 du vocabulaire du chapitre 4 entier et de la page 155 du texte
 de la negation et des adjectifs et pronoms indéfinis, pp. 138-139
 des verbes en -ir, pp. 142-143

GENERAL PRESENTATION GUIDELINES:

You may use note cards, but use them only sparingly if you record a video of you speaking.
Constantly reading from your notes makes even the most visually appealing presentation boring.

Use your own words. Don’t copy articles in French from websites/Internet sources. That
would be a violation of the Academic Integrity policy.

Submitting YouTube Journal Entries

Please see the below guidelines for submitting your activité orale video. If you experience any
difficulties, please go to the ITS Service Center in Life Sciences Room 1-227.
Create your video (Mac)
1. Launch QuickTime Player (in Applications folder)
2. Select “New Movie Recording”
3. Click on the red button to start recording

4. Click on the same button to stop recording

5. Save your video on your computer or publish it directly to YouTube
Upload your video in YouTube
1. Go to youtube.com (browser preference: Firefox or Chrome)
2. Sign in with your Google account (your SU username + @g.syr.edu)
3. Click on the Upload button at the top right of the page
4. Upload the video file from your computer.
5. Edit the video information
a. To change the video’s privacy settings, click on the Public dropdown and select
Unlisted. This will only allow you video to be seen by those who have the direct
link for the video.
b. Click Publish.
Creating your Journal Entry & Embedding your YouTube Video
1. In your Blackboard course, locate the journal by going to Tools > Journals.
2. Click on the journal for Examen Oral #2.
3. Click Create Journal Entry
4. Give your entry a title and type your text in the text box editor
5. In YouTube, locate your recorded video and click on it.
a. Underneath your video player, click on Share > Embed
b. Copy the embed code
6. In the journal text box editor, click on the HTML button in the last row.
a. Paste your embed code in the box and click Update.
b. Please include the link to your YouTube video in the text box.
7. Click Post Entry.

Please be sure to embed your entry and not simply post a link.

Your presentation will be graded on content and organization (50 pts) as well as on form (50
pts).
