What is It
Did you know that we note details when we take note of
specific parts of a passage, including the sequence of these
parts? A good researcher is skilled in noting details and also in
selecting details relevant to the main idea. Details usually answer
the questions that start with Who, What, When, Where, and Why.
The answers are usually directly stated in the selection.
17
Here are some tips you must remember in noting significant
details.
1. Significant details in a story center on who, what, where,
when, why, and how. These key words tell you what to look for in
the story.
2. Look back at the selection to find an answer. Do not depend
on your memory.
3. The answer to a question may not use the exact words in
the story. Remember the same idea or event but differently said.
4. When you come to a word you don’t know, look for other
words in the paragraph that explain the unknown word.

serve, we hope that you will love what is on the menu tonight.‖
The restaurant was very nice and their servers as well. The
waiter came out with the food that they ordered. The two
children did not notice how big their smiles were when they saw
the viands being served. There was kare-kare, fried chicken and
pork barbeque.
