qualifier la matière. Dès le parc à grumes, chaque arbre est analysé en profondeur par rayons X pour une parfaite adéquation entre
qualité de la grume et qualité visée des sciages. Pour garantir la maîtrise continue de la qualité, nous avons également installé des
scanners dans nos ateliers de transformation pour le contrôle jusqu’au produit fini.

Our business is constantly growing. We have invested heavily in X-ray scanner technology to better understand and quality
control our wood products. Straight from the log yard, each tree is analysed in detail to best match the log strengths to the
requirements of the final sawn timber. We have also installed scanners in our processing workshops to guarantee reliable high
quality products at all times.
These technological advances mean that monitoring is done throughout the processing stage to maintain quality and deliver a

60, le Douglas a aujourd’hui un accroissement biologique qui dépasse l’augmentation de la
production et la filière assure le reboisement des forêts pour assurer le renouvellement de la

With 420 000 hectares of standing timber, France has Europe’s largest Douglas fir forested
area, concentrated on the plateaus of Correze and the Massif Central. It represents 2.5% of
the total French forest. Douglas fir should represent nearly 30% of softwood sawn timber by
2030. With its adaptive qualities and with planting being carried out since the 1960s, Douglas
fir today has a biological growth rate that exceeds the increase in production, and the sector
constantly undertakes reforestation to ensure the renewal and protection for future
generations. All the Douglas fir products we offer are PEFC-certified.

Avec la couleur rosée de son duramen et son grisaillement propre en utilisation extérieure, le
Douglas a une signature singulière recherchée dans les projets architecturaux. Le Douglas
peut être prescrit dans de nombreuses classes d’emploi (voir page précédente). Ses qualités
mécaniques supérieures aux autres essences de résineux(1) permettent au Douglas de
répondre à des utilisations constructives structurelles et de parement variées tant en habitat
individuel ou collectif qu’en bâtiment non résidentiel. Ses performances naturelles sont
encore améliorées par l’ingénierie que nous apportons dans les différentes étapes de
transformation du bois en séchage, rabotage, collage et imprégnation éventuelle pour
repousser encore les limites de cette essence.
With the pinkish colour of its heartwood and its greying when used outdoors, Douglas fir
has a unique aesthetic that is sought after in architectural-led projects. Douglas fir can be
specified in many different Use Classes (see previous page). The mechanical qualities of
Douglas fir are superior to those of other softwood species (1), making it suitable for a
variety of structural and cladding applications in single and group housing as well as in
non-residential buildings. Its natural performance is further enhanced by the engineering
we introduce at the various stages of timber processing in drying, planing, bonding, and
treatments that push the limits of this dynamic species.

Le bardage ne doit pas se trouver à moins de 20 cm du sol fini pour éviter

RESIN POCKETS

une période chaude. Ces remontées peuvent être facilement grattées avec une spatule (à faire
par temps froid quand la résine est dure).

Surface mould can appear from time to time on treated timber that has been stored in a warm

LE GRISAILLEMENT

lasure permettra d’en éviter l’apparition. L’apparition du grisaillement ne compromet en rien
la durabilité des bois concernés.

Le bois présente naturellement des différences de teintes, qu’il soit traité ou non : nuances

ne sont pas des finitions), et plus généralement entre plusieurs pièces de bois. Ces nuances
s’harmonisent avec le temps.

heartwood and sapwood (Pine, Douglas fir), colour change of brown or grey treatments (these

Crystallisation can appear on wood that has been through an autoclave. It is caused by small
drops of resin that can rise to the surface. These crystals generally disappear spontaneously
once the timber is being used. These can also be lightly brushed away. This phenomenon does
not compromise the timber’s durability in any way.
