L’histoire de la Francophonie :

*Francophonie :
1- La Francophonie, ce sont tout d’abord des femmes et des hommes qui partagent une langue

- 1880 : Invention du mot Francophonie par un géographe français Onésime Reculs (1837-
1916). (Onésime Reclus invented the word Francophonie in 1880).

- 1960 : The 1st président of Sénégal Léopard Sédar Senghor (1906-2001) propose de
regrouper les pays qui partagent la langue française.
(Senghor suggest grouping the countries that share the French language).

- 1970 : Naissance de l’Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF).

- 1986 : Premier sommet de la Francophonie à Paris.

(First conference of the countries of OIF in Paris).

- 2018 : Election de l’actuelle secrétaire générale Louise Mushikiwabo (1961-…) de l’OIF.

- 2020 : La Francophonie fête ses 50 ans. (OIF célébrâtes 50 years anniversity).

The flag of the OIF is white with an emblem made of five segments of a circle, red, blue, yellow,
green, and violet, which symbolize the five continents. (blue for Europe, yellow for Asia, purple for
Africa, green for Oceania, red for North /South America).
