The rules for installa�on and maintenance are defined by the NF S62-201,
NF EN 671-3 standards and from Rule R5 of APSAD as well. /

Installa�on / Installa�on
1. A suitable and accessible loca�on should be selected. The surface must be suitable to withstand a horizontal pull
on the reel.
1. Un emplacement approprié et accessible pour installa�on doit être sélec�onné. La surface doit être adaptée pour
résister à une trac�on horizontale de la RIA.
2. Mark out four moun�ng holes according to bracket’s related holes. Install the bracket so that the hose reel’s central axis
to be between 1.2 and 1.8 m from the ground. Make sure that bracket will be horizontally mounted (see p1)./
2. Marquez à la posi�on que le RIA sera installé, quatre trous de fixa�on avec le support mural comme guide.
Vérifier que l'axe central du dévidoir se situera entre 1,2 et 1,8m du sol (voir p1).
3. Drill the holes as marked to suit the prepared fasteners (10mm Zinc Plated bolt with nuts or washers(not included)
(see p2). /
3. Percez les trous comme indiqué pour convenir aux boulons (boulons de 10 mm avec écrous ou rondelles (non inclus)
(voir p2).
4. Install the bracket onto the wall according to the holes, with prepared fasteners. It is Suggested to do this opera�on
without the reel in order to be easier to fix the screws (see p3). /
4. Installez le support sur le mur en fonc�on des trous, avec les boulons. Il est suggéré de faire l’installa�on sans le
dévidoir afin d’être plus facile à fixer les boulons (voir p3).
5. Li� the fire hose reel and install waterway pipe through posi�on holes of the bracket, ensuring the assembly is level.
Tighten the pipe with gaskets. Be cau�ous not to harm the thread during this proccedure (see p4). /
5. Soulevez le RIA et installez le tuyau d’alimenta�on d’eau dans les trous du support, en vous assurant que l’assemblage
est nivelé. Serrer le tuyau avec des joints. Veillez à ne pas endommager les joints pendant ce�e procédure (voir p4).
6. Connect outlet end of the landing valve, onto the fire reel waterway using thread-locking adhesive and fasten stably./
6. Connectez la vanne d’arrêt avec le tuyau d’alimenta�on du dévidoir avec un adhésif et fixer solidement.
7. Connect the water supply pipe onto inlet end of the valve. Make sure that the pipe is properly fixed to the wall./
7. Connectez le tuyau d’alimenta�on d’eau avec l’entrée de la vanne d’arrêt. Assurez-vous que le tuyau est correctement
fixé au mur.
8. Check ease of hose withdrawal in any direc�on and check for leaks and rewind hose in accordance with Name Plate
instruc�ons. Before connec�on, make sure that the pipe is not under pressure and, if necessary purge it, and drain
the water that may be inside hose. Verify water flows regularly and that sealing is proper. /
8. Vérifiez la facilité de la trac�on du tuyau dans toutes les direc�ons et vérifiez qu’il n’y a pas des fuites et rembobinez
le tuyau conformément aux instruc�ons de la plaque d’ Instruc�ons. Avant la connexion, assurez-vous que le tuyau
n’est pas sous pression et, si nécessaire, purgez-le et vidangez l’eau qui pourrait se trouver à l’intérieur du tuyau.
Vérifiez que l’eau circule régulièrement et que l’étanchéité est appropriée.

1. Open the valve,pull hose towards fire, open nozzle to spray/jet and aim at base of fire.
2. A�er use, close the valve, open the nozzle to decrease the pressure and then close the nozzle, rewind the hose.

Annual Inspec�on Procedure / Procédure d'inspec�on annuelle
The hose should be fully run out, put under pressure and the following points checked. /
Le tuyau doit être complètement déroulé, mis à la pression du réseau et les points suivants vérifiés
• Hose reel is unobstructed and free from damage and components not corroded or leaking opera�ng instruc�ons are clear and legible. /
Le RIA n'est pas obstrué et n'est pas endommagé et les composants non corrodés. Les instruc�ons d'u�lisa�on qui sont claires et
lisibles
• The loca�on is clearly marked. / L'emplacement est clairement marqué
• Brackets for wall moun�ng are suitable for their purpose and fixed and firm. / Les supports pour montage mural conviennent
à leur usage et sont fixes et serré
• The flow of water is steady and sufficient. / Le débit d'eau est stable et suffisant
• Pressure gauge is working sa�sfactorily and within its opera�ng range. / Le manomètre fonc�onne de manière sa�sfaisante
et dans sa plage de fonc�onnement
• The en�re length of hose should be inspected for signs of cracking, distor�on, wear or damage. If the hose shows ant signs of defect,
it shall be replaced or proof tested to maximum permissible working pressure. / Toute la longueur du tuyau doit être inspectée pour
déceler pour signes de fissure, de déforma�on, d'usure ou de dommage. Si le tuyau présente des signes de défaut, il doit être
remplacé ou testé à la pression de service maximale admissible
• Hose clips or bindings are of the correct type and are securely fastened. / Les colliers de serrage ou les fixa�ons sont du type
correct et sont solidement fixés.
• Hose drum rotates freely in both direc�ons. / Le dévidoir tourne librement dans les deux direc�ons
• For swinging reels, check that pivot rotates easily and that the reel swings through 180°. / Pour les RIA pivotantes,
vérifiez qu’ils pivotent facilement et que le RIA pivote de 180 °
• On manual reels，check the valve is of correct type and that it operates easily and correctly. / Pour les RIA manuels
vérifié que la vanne est du type correct et qu'elle fonc�onne facilement et correctement
• On automa�c reels, check the correct opera�on of the automa�c valve and check for the correct opera�on of the isola�ng service valve. /
Pour les RIA automa�ques, vérifier le bon fonc�onnement de la vanne automa�que et vérifier le bon fonc�onnement de la vanne
de service isolante
• Check the condi�on of the water supply pipe work; par�cular a�en�on should be paid to any flexible pipe work for signs of damage or
wear. / Vérifier l'état du tuyau d'alimenta�on a eau; une a�en�on par�culière devrait être accordée à tout tuyau flexible pour signes
de dommages ou d'usure.
• If fi�ed with a cabinet, check for signs of damage and check that the cabinet doors can open to minimum 170° to allow the hose to run
out freely in any direc�on. / Si le RIA est équipé d'une armoire, vérifiez s'il y a des signes de dommages et vérifiez que les portes de
l'armoire peuvent s'ouvrir à au moins 170 ° perme�ant le devidoir s'écouler librement dans toutes direc�ons.
• Check that the nozzle is of the correct type and easy to operate. / Vérifiez que le diffuseur est du type correct et facile à u�liser
• Check the opera�on of any hose guide and ensure they are correctly and firmly fixed. / Vérifiez le fonc�onnement de tout guide de
tuyau et assurez-vous qu'ils sont correctement et bien fixés
• Leave the hose reel and hose system ready for immediate use. If any extensive maintenance is necessary the hose reel or hose system
should be labeled OUT OF ORDER and the competent Person should inform the user/owner. / Laisser le dévidoir et le système de tuyau
prêts pour une u�lisa�on immédiate. Si un entre�en important est nécessaire, le dévidoir ou le système de tuyau doit être é�queté
HORS SERVICE et la personne compétente doit informer l'u�lisateur / propriétaire.
• When transparent material is used as a part of the construc�on of the door,then this shall not be used as the emergency access to the
hose reel. / Lorsqu'un matériau transparent est u�lisé pour la construc�on de la porte, cela ne doit pas être u�lisé comme urgence
accès à le RIA
• An opening /closing device of the cabinet shall be provided to allow periodical inspec�on and maintenance.The opening device shall have
provision for a security seal to be fi�ed. The force necessary to open and secure the seal shall be not less than 20N and not more than 40N.
/ Un disposi�f d'ouverture / fermeture de l'armoire doit être prévu pour perme�re l'inspec�on et la maintenance périodiques.
Le disposi�f doit comporter un sceau de sécurité à installer. La force nécessaire pour ouvrir et sécuriser le sceau ne doit pas moins de
20N et pas plus de 40N.
• The screw down valve shall be posi�oned in the cabinet for manual hose reel in such a way that there is at least 35mm free space around
the external diameter of the hand wheel,when the valve is in any posi�on from fully open to fully closed. / Si le RIA manuel et place dans
un armoire il doit y avoir un espace libre au moins 35 mm autour de la manche de la vanne, lorsque la vanne est dans n'importe
quelle posi�on de complètement ouverte à complètement fermée

Five-Years inspec�on Procedure / Opéra�ons de maintenance préven�ve quinquennale

Apart from above opera�ons men�oned in above paragraph (Annual Inspec�on Procedure), you should also carry out
following opera�ons / Elle consiste à réaliser, en plus des opéra�ons de maintenance préven�ve annuelle décrites au paragraphe
dessus (Procédure d'inspec�on annuelle) les opéra�ons suivantes:

• Check the condi�on of all R.I.A. according to standard NF EN 671-3 / Vérifier l'état de tous les R.I.A. selon la norme NF EN 671-3;
• Change all the seals/o-rings of the R.I.A. / Changer tous les joints d’ étanchéité des R.I.A.;
• Clean and maintain all tanks / Ne�oyer et entretenir ous les réservoirs.

Ten-Years inspec�on Procedure / Opéra�ons de maintenance préven�ve décennale

Apart from above opera�ons men�oned in above paragraph (Five-Years maintenance Procedure), you should also carry out following
opera�ons / Elle consiste à réaliser, en plus de opéra�ons de maintenance préven�ve quinquennale décrites au paragraphe dessus
(Opéra�ons de maintenance préven�ve quinquennale), les opéra�ons suivantes:

• Verify the internal state of the pipework by taking sample for evalua�on/analysis from the pipe fi�ng/coupling installed for this
purpose / Vérifier l’état interne des tuyauteries par prélèvement pour analyse, des manche�es prévues à cet effet.

Note: install special fi�ng/couplings so as to be able to take sample without ge�ng out of order the whole pipework installa�on
(fi�ngs/couplings supplied upon ini�al installa�on). /
Note: Installer des manche�es de remplacement alin de ne pas neutralizer l’installa�on (manche�es fournies avec l’installa�on
à la récep�on de celle-ci).

• Check (if applicable) the condi�on of all "flexible couplings/fi�ngs" and replace them if there is any discrepancy with the requirements
of corresponding standards for pipes. / Vérifier (le cas échéant) l’état de toutes les «manche�es flexibles» et procéder à leur
remplacement en cas d’écart constaté avec les exigences de la norme relevante pour les canalisa�ons.

• Verify the internal condi�on of the water tanks for / Vérifier l’état interne des réserves d’eau pour:
- the development of corrosion / l’évolu�on des corrosions;
- the need for repairs/ les besoins de remise en état.
• Proceed to the draining of the pipework with the use of the drain valves / Procéder au rinçage des canalisa�ons à l’aide des robinets
de vidange.
• Change all the seals/o-rings of all R.I.A / Changer tous les joints d’ étanchéité de chaque R.I.A.
