couvercle.

fig.1

fig.2

fig.3

Entretien
verrouillage (2 fois par an).

Reasons to install backflow prevention protection.

The causes of backflow Riverside areas

Back flow from the public sewer system is mainly

caused by:

- overall under-sizing of the public sewers

- high peak flows in stormwater sewers or combined
sewers due to short but intense rainfall (climatic trend
throughout the world)
- increase of surface water runoff due to new
construction (growing territorial urbanization), causing
greater volume of flow
- overflow due to peaks of simultaneous flow in built up
areas
- malfunctions or blockages downstream from the grid

The typical situations that may lead to this problem are

various and are related to the urban area involved.

Several examples:

Homes that are discharging downstream from other homes (example: historical centers).

FlAp vAlve

The flap valves allow the waste water to flow out from a
pipe to either a ditch or a pond, preventing at the same
time back flooding.
The flap is opened by waste water’s thrust. Flap’s
weight and 11° slant keep the device closed when not
working.
Material: PVC
Colour: Red RAL 8023 (body) Grey RAL 7037 (flap)
An elastomeric seal covers flap’s whole internal surface.

CERTIFICATIONS Redi anti-flooding valves DN 100 ÷ 200 are certified by German Institute LGA
and kitemarked LGA.

Certified anti-flooding valves grant the following performances:

• Regular flow granted by the ope-

ning of the flap also in presence of
minimum pressure rates (0.005 bar)

• Non-deformability and tightness of

the product after 600 test cycles at
variable temperature (60 seconds
at 75° / 60 seconds at 15°)

• Effectiveness of Redi anti-floo-

ding device after 35 cycles of
backflow of variable duration
from 5 up to 10 minutes and
pressure rate from 0,01 up to 0.5
bar

• Water tightness of the entire

valve’s body, subjected to a
pressure rate of 0.5 bar

• Inlet and outlet of the val-

ves are in accordance with

eliminate flood risk by backflow through drainage channels.

National Building Regulations require provision to be made to protect
a building where surcharge may occur.
Particularly suitable for:
• Low - lying coastal, lake or valley areas,
especially where rain water is channelled
downstream to the main sewer, making it
liable to flash-floods after heavy rainfalls.
• Under-dimensioned sewage networks
with recent or schedled new dwellings being
connected on a previous main sewer
operating at a high flowrate.
• Private discharge systems channelled to
public sewers equipped with pumping
stations.
• Commercial and industrial installations
where non-pressure flow control is required
(i.e. fish - farming) or where PVC
performance is required (salt water).
• Rodent ingress reduction.

INSTALLATION DETAILS

Every valve is delivered in single carton box including

installation instructions

INSTALLATION
Ensure the valve is set horizontally,
as it already has a built-in fall.
Beware of the direction of flow as
indicated by the arrow on the
cover of the valve.

OPERATION
The Redi anti-flooding device for
use in horizontal pipes closes the
pipeline automatically when back-
flow occurs. Ensure the handle is on
the “OPEN”

Valve
Valve Syphon
Syphon

EMERGENCY CLOSURE DEVICE

The option exists to lock the valve in
the “CLOSED” position for added
security (no through drainage
allowed)

MAINTENANCE
The emergency closure device
should ideally be tested once
every six months. In case of dirt and
deposits, remove the cover, clean
parts, check gaskets and replace
any damaged parts. We strongly
recommend a complete servicing
at least once every twelve months.
