Week 3 - Shopping in Paris like a Parisian - Day 4 - Dialogue

Dis donc, j'adore ce marché, je savais pas qu'il existait ! Comment ça s’appelle, ici ?

Say, I love this market, I didn't know it existed! What's it called here?

C’est le marché… Saint-Quentin, je crois. Il est chouette, hein ? C'est un marché de

producteurs locaux, tu trouves plein de trucs bio et de saison. Ils viennent tous les samedis ici.

It's the market... Saint-Quentin, I think. It's nice, huh? It's a local producers' market; you find
a lot of organic and seasonal stuff. They come here every Saturday.

Et toi, t'y viens souvent pour faire tes courses ?

And you, do you come here often to do your shopping?

Bah, pas trop en fait. En général, je suis plutôt servie par mon AMAP. Et puis quand j'ai
besoin de quelques trucs en plus, je vais au supermarché. J'ai découvert le Drive piéton aussi.
Je commande mes courses en ligne, et je viens les chercher à vélo en rentrant du taf. C'est
plutôt pratique.

Well, not really, actually. In general, I'm served by my CSA. And then when I need a few more
things, I go to the supermarket. I discovered the pedestrian Drive as well. I order my
groceries online, and I pick them up by bike on my way home from work. It's pretty
convenient.

Ah ouais, pas bête ! Faudrait que j'y pense. Sinon hier, je suis allée au marché des Enfants
Rouges.

Ah yeah, not bad! I should think about that. Otherwise, yesterday, I went to the Enfants
Rouges market.

On a adoré se balader entre les stands, avec toutes ces couleurs et ces odeurs d’épices et de
produits frais !
We loved strolling between the stalls, with all these colors and the smells of spices and fresh
products!

J'ai même déniché quelques produits sympas à ramener à la maison.

I even found some nice products to bring back home.

Ah oui, je connais bien. C’est vrai qu’il est sympa.

Mais cet aprem, j'irais bien faire du shopping. T'aurais pas des bons plans ou des coins
sympas à me conseiller ?

Euh… Eh bah t’as le Marais, évidemment, pour les fringues un peu stylées de boutiques genre
Sandro, Maje ou The Kooples.

Et puis c’est joli, c’est dans le centre, tout ça. Il y a des friperies très chouettes aussi dans ce
quartier.

Sinon, moi j'aime bien aller près du canal Saint-Martin, t'as aussi des petites boutiques un peu
plus décalées, genre Antoine et Lili.

offbeat small boutiques, like Antoine and Lili.

C'est top pour dénicher des trucs, et c’est aussi un coin avec des librairies et des petits
magasins d’art, au cas où tu tombes sur un truc qui te fait craquer.

It's great for finding stuff, and it's also an area with bookstores and small art shops, in case
you come across something that makes you fall in love.
