Cetamine® FB430
Surface-Active Corrosion Inhibitor for Steam Generators and
Boiler Systems in Food Industry
Product description
Cetamine® FB430 is an all-in-one corrosion inhibitor based on a BOILER SYSTEMS
blend of a surface active Cetamine® Filming Substance (CFS)
and alkalizing amines. Cetamine® FB430 prevents corrosion in
steam generators and boiler systems by formation of a protective
Cetamine® film on metal surfaces and adjusting the pH-value to
the optimal range.

Cetamine® FB430 is intended to protect boilers during the

production of steam used in processing and heating food,
excluding milk and milk products. It complies with the Food, Drug
and Cosmetic Act and all applicable food additive regulations,
including applications described in FDA 21 C. F. R. Section
173.310 (Boiler Water Additives) if the concentration of
Cetamine® FB430 does not exceed 75 g/m³ in steam.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
Cetamine® FB430 passivates metallic surfaces and provides
exceptional protection throughout the whole water/steam cycle of
both all-ferrous and mixed metallurgy systems. Significant reduction of corrosion and
iron transport
Application Metal passivation
All components of Cetamine® FB430 are volatile and therefore Oxide layer stabilization
can be applied in accordance with the All Volatile Treatment Online system cleaning
(AVT) concept. Improved heat transfer
Ideal distribution in liquid and steam
Cetamine® FB430 can be used in boiler systems where phase for full plant protection
feedwater is used for steam attemperation. Excellent protection during stoppages
and lay-up periods
Cetamine® FB430 provides full protection in systems containing Improved environmental discharge
copper or copper alloy installations (e. g. condensers or profile in case of system leakages or
feedwater preheaters). draining
Free of cyclohexylamine
Cetamine® FB430 is suitable for demineralized make-up water
qualities prepared by ion exchange or reversed osmosis. It also
can be applied in low pressure systems with softened water
quality.

Once a stable protective Cetamine® FB430 film has been PRODUCT COMPLIANCE
established in the system the plant has the full flexibility to
operate under cycling mode conditions. Cetamine® FB430
Fully complies with international food
provides also full protection during medium and long term shut-
regulations
down periods keeping the unit either filled or drained.

Dosage
The dose rate of Cetamine® FB430 is system specific and needs
to be defined together with a Kurita representative. Generally the CHEMICAL & PHYSICAL
dose rate refers to total make-up water and has to be adjusted PROPERTIES
until a pH value greater than 8.2 has established in steam and
condensate while the maximum concentration of CFS must be colorless to slightly
≤ 0.5 g/m³. If an excess of CFS is not detectable the leading Colour and
yellow, clear to
treatment parameter is the pH value. appearance
slightly turbid liquid

Recommended dose rate related to make-up water:

Density (20 °C) 0.99 ± 0.05 g/cm³
• DI or RO water: 15 – 75 g/m³
• Softened water: 60 – 120 g/m³

Depending on the system design it is recommended to dose pH (20 °C)

Cetamine® FB430 continuously into the low pressure part of the 10.9 ± 0.5
1% aqueous
feedwater line or into the condensate line.

Cetamine® FB430 should be injected by means of an automatic A dilution of the

dosing system and must be dosed neat. Solubility in water product is not
recommended
Product monitoring
The CFS content can be determined by the Kurita Cetamine® FB
Photometric Method.
