Le petit gorille qui n’aimait pas les bananes
C’était un petit gorille qui n’aimait pas les bananes. Dur dur pour un singe de ne
pas aimer les bananes.
Sa maman avait tout essayé : bananes flambées, bananes en soufflé, en compote, en
papillote, tartes à la banane, chaussons à la banane, des banana-split, des sorbets à
la banane... Rien n’y faisait : le petit gorille refusait d’en manger.
Désespérée, la maman gorille décida d’aller voir le sorcier des singes : le vieil Orang- His mummy, desperate, decided to go and meet the sorcerer of the monkeys: the

Le vieux sorcier Orang-Outang demanda qu’on lui amène le jeune gorille à la

Outabanana. Il doit y rester seul trois jours et trois nuits sans manger ni boire.
Ensuite, votre fils sera guéri.»
Les parents du petit gorille firent ce que le sorcier des singes leur avait dit.
Le jeune gorille resta trois jours et trois nuits tout seul sur son rocher au bord de
la rivière Outabanana.
Le matin du quatrième jour, les parents vinrent chercher leur petit. Fou de joie,
le jeune gorille se jeta dans les bras de sa maman, et quand la maman gorille lui
présenta un régime de bananes, ik le dévora tout entier..

There was once a little gorilla who did not like bananas. How hard for a monkey
to dislike bananas.

On morning of the fourth day, his parents came to bring their son home. The
young gorilla, overjoyed, threw himself into his mother’s arms for a big hug. And
when mummy gorilla handed him a bunch of bananas, he wolfed them all down..

La paire de tennis
Salut, je nous présente, voici Tennis Piedgauche et Tennis Pieddroit. Nous sommes
une paire de chaussures de tennis. Enfin une vieille paire de chaussures de tennis.
Aujourd’hui Maman a décidé que nous étions, Piedgauche et moi, bons pour la
poubelle.
Pourtant, je me rappelle le temps merveilleux où nous étions bien rangés sur
l’étagère du magasin, attendant que de petits pieds veuillent bien nous chausser.
Que nous étions beaux à l’époque : tout en cuir blanc, avec une bande bleue de
chaque côté et du caoutchouc tout autour pour nous protéger des mauvais coups.
De grands lacets tous blancs ornaient nos oeillets.
Et un jour ce fût Jérome qui nous choisit, sans hésitation, au désespoir de Maman
qui nous trouvait trop chers. Mais Jérome gagna et nous amena avec lui. A partir
de ce jour, la vraie vie commença pour nous.
Dès qu’il nous chaussait, on partait à l’aventure. Piedgauche n’aimait pas spécialement
les après-midi de vélo parce que Jérome avait tendance à se servir de lui comme
d’un frein. Moi, je craignais plus les parties de football avec les copains parce que
je revenais toujours avec plein de bosses.
Chaque dimanche soir Maman grondait parce que nous étions sales et Jérome
devait nous laver. Même qu’une fois nous avons eu droit à la machine à laver. Nous
n’avons pas beaucoup apprécié. Mais pour que Jérome puisse nous chausser, nous
étions prêts à tous les sacrifices.
Un jour Jérome décida de partir à l’aventure dans la forêt derrière la maison. Ce jour
là Jérome ne nous a pas ménagé : il ne pensait qu’à ses jeux et peu à nous. Avec lui
nous avons combattu les bêtes féroces, sauté par dessus les fleuves et les précipices,
conquis des contrées sauvages. Nous lui avons permis d’échapper à ses ennemis,
de sauver les jolies princesses, de terrasser les monstres et les méchantes sorcières.

“Hello, I introduce ourselves, here is Tennis Rightfoot and Tennis Leftfoot. We
are a pair of tennis shoes. Well, an old pair of tennis shoes. Today, Mummy has

However, I remember that marvellous time when we were well displayed on the
shop shelf, waiting for some small feet to feel like putting us on. How beautiful we
were at that time: all in white leather, with a blue stripe on each side and rubber all
around to protect ourselves from bad blows. Some long white laces adorned our
eyelets.
And one day, Jerome chose us, without hesitation, which caused despair to Mummy
who found us too expensive. But Jerome won and took us with him. Since that day,
the real life began for us.
As soon as he put us on, we would go to the adventure. Leftfoot did not really like
the bicycle afternoons because Jerome had a tendency to use him as a break; while
I feared more the football games with the friends because I would always go back
home with lots of bumps.
Every Sunday evenings, Mummy moaned because we were dirty and Jerome had
to wash us. And what’s more once we earned ourselves a good washing machine
session. We did not like it very much. But to make it possible for Jerome to put us
on, we were ready for every sacrifice.
One day Jerome decided to seek adventure in the woods behind the house. Jerome
did not treat us with care that day: playing was all he thought about and he did not
have us much on his mind. We fought against savage beasts, jumped over rivers
and precipices, conquered wild lands with him.
We made it possible for him to escape his enemies, to save some beautiful princesses,
to bring down the monsters and the nasty witches. He was the gentle knight and we

plumage rouge ! »
Vexé, le perroquet rouge lui répond : « Qu’est-ce qu’il a mon plumage rouge ? Elles
sont très belles mes plumes rouges ! Et puis d’ailleurs je n’en ai pas d’autres. Et
même s’il ne vous plaît pas mon plumage, au milieu des fleurs je me confonds ! »
A son tour le perroquet rouge, envieux, dit au perroquet jaune « Vous avez l’air
malin avec votre plumage jaune ! »
Vexé, le perroquet jaune lui répond : « Qu’est-ce qu’il a mon plumage jaune ? Elles
sont très belles mes plumes jaunes ! Et puis d’ailleurs je n’en ai pas d’autres. Et
même s’il ne vous plaît pas mon plumage, dans le ciel on ne voit que moi ! »
A son tour le perroquet jaune, fâché, dit au perroquet vert « Vous avez l’air malin
avec votre plumage vert ! »
Vexé, le perroquet vert lui répond : « Qu’est-ce qu’il a mon plumage vert ? Elles
sont très belles mes plumes vertes ! Et puis d’ailleurs je n’en ai pas d’autres. Et
même s’il ne vous plaît pas mon plumage, dans le feuillage je suis invisible ! »
A ce moment-là, un orage s’abat sur la forêt. Le vent souffle, le tonnerre gronde,
la pluie se déchaîne. Pour se protéger, les trois perroquets se rapprochent. Mais la
tempête redouble et nos perroquets sont malmenés, projetés à droite, projetés à
gauche, secoués dans tous les sens.
Mais au petit matin, lorsque le soleil est apparu, il n’y a plus ni perroquet vert,
ni perroquet rouge, ni perroquet jaune. Non à la place il y a trois magnifiques
perroquets rouge-vert-jaune.
Dans la tempête, leurs plumes se sont mélangées !

Three jealous parrots
Three parrots - a blue, a green and a yellow one - are perched on a tree in the
Amazon Rainforest.
The jealous green parrot says to the red parrot: “You look stupid with your red
plumage!”
The red parrot, hurt by this, answers: “What is wrong with my red plumage? My
red feathers are very beautiful! And anyway, I have no other ones. And even though
you do not like my plumage, I can merge into the colours of the flowers.
It was now the envious red parrot’s turn to say to the yellow parrot: “You look
stupid with your yellow plumage!”
The red parrot, hurt by this, answers: “What is wrong with my red plumage? My
yellow feathers are very beautiful! And anyway, I have no other ones. And even
though you do not like my plumage, I fill the sky with my colours when I fly!”
It was now the envious yellow parrot’s turn to say to the green parrot: “You look
stupid with your green plumage!”
The green parrot, hurt by this, answers: “What is wrong with my green plumage?
My green feathers are very beautiful! And anyway, I have no other ones. And even
though you do not like my plumage, I am invisible among the foliage!”
Suddenly, a storm sweeps the Rainforest. The wind blows, the thunder rumbles, the
rain pours hard. The three parrots get closer to each other to protect themselves.
But the storm becomes twice as strong and the parrots are given a rough time.
They are flung to the right, flung to the left, and shaken on all sides.
But after the morning has come and the sun has risen, there is no green parrot, red
parrot, and yellow parrot anymore. No, instead of that, there are three magnificent
red-green-yellow parrots. Indeed, their feathers got mixed up in the storm!

Le costume du Père Noël
- Du rouge, du rouge, du rouge ! Stop ! Ras-le-bol du rouge.
A quelques jours de Noël, le Père Noël essaye son costume devant l’immense
miroir de sa chambre.
- Ça suffit, il faut que je change de costume, s’exclame-t-il.
Aussitôt le Père Noël se rend d’un pas décidé vers la fabrique de jouets. Et toujours
aussi résolu, il entre dans la salle des costumes où il surprend une jeune costumière
en train de coudre des paillettes sur une robe de princesse.
- Père Noël ? s’étonne la costumière, que vous arrive-il ?
- Du rouge, du rouge, rien que du rouge. Je n’en peux plus. Je veux changer de
costume.
- Changer de costume ? demande perplexe, la petite costumière.
- Oui, je veux changer de costume. Qu’avez-vous à me proposer ? ronchonne le
Père Noël tout en farfouillant dans les penderies.
La petite costumière réfléchit et dit :
- Passez derrière ce paravent. Je vais voir ce que je peux trouver.
Après avoir fouillé quelques instants dans la penderie, la petite costumière tend au
Père Noël un masque noir avec des oreilles pointues, une combinaison noire avec
gros dessin doré sur la poitrine et une grande cape noire.
Derrière le paravent, le Père Noël enfile le costume et vient s’admirer devant le
miroir.
- Un costume de Batman ? Noir… non c’est bien trop noir ! s’exclame le Père
Noël. Trouvez-moi autre chose !
Quelques minutes après, la petite costumière tend au Père Noël un habit décoré de
centaine de losanges rouges, verts et jaunes, un demi-masque noir, un bonnet blanc
et des chaussons ornés d’un pompon.
Derrière le paravent, le Père Noël enfile le costume et vient s’admirer devant le

Santa Claus’s suit
“Red, red and red again! Stop ! I am fed up to the back teeth with red.”
A few days before Christmas, Santa is trying on his suit in front of the immense
mirror of his bedroom.
“That’s enough! I must change my suit” he exclaimed.
Santa immediately goes to the toy factory with a determined walk. And still as
resolute, he enters the costume room where he catches a young wardrobe mistress
in the act of sewing sequins on a princess dress.
“Santa?” the surprised wardrobe mistress says, “what happens to you?”
“Red, red, and always red. I am fed up with it. I want to change my suit.”
“Change your suit?” the little wardrobe mistress asks, puzzled.
“Yes, I want to change my suit. What do you have to offer me?” Santa grumbles
while rummaging about in the wardrobes.
The little wardrobe mistress thought, then said:
“Get behind the folding screen. I will see what I can find.”
After having searched a few minutes in the closet, the little wardrobe mistress
holds out a black mask with pointed ears, a black suit with a large gold design on
the chest and a large black cloak to Santa.
Santa puts on the outfit behind the folding screen and comes up to admire himself
in front of the mirror.
“A Batman outfit? Black… It is much too black!” Santa exclaims. “Find me
something else!”
A few minutes later, the little wardrobe mistress holds out a garment decorated
with hundred of red, green and yellow diamonds, a black half-mask, a white bonnet
and slippers adorned with a pompom to Santa.
Behind the folding screen, Santa puts on the garment and comes up to admire
himself in front of the mirror.

une longue cote de mailles, une solide armure et une épée.
Derrière le paravent, le Père Noël enfile le costume et vient s’admirer devant le
miroir.

En soupirant, la petite costumière retourne dans la penderie. Elle lui tend de
grandes bottes noires, une ceinture noire également, un pantalon rouge et un grand
manteau rouge bordé de fourrure blanche.
Derrière le paravent, le Père Noël enfile le costume et vient s’admirer devant le
miroir.
- Mais… c’est mon costume de Père Noël ! s’exclame le Père Noël en se tournant
et se retournant devant la glace pour s’admirer.

Une toute petite grenouille sur un nénuphar
Sur le bord de la marre, une toute petite grenouille verte observait cinq magnifiques
nénuphars, là-bas au loin.
« Que voilà de jolies fleurs ! Que voilà de jolies feuilles ! Ce serait si bien de pouvoir
se reposer sur l’une d’elles » soupira la toute petite grenouille. Mais comment
atteindre ces nénuphars quand on est si petite ?
« Tu n’as qu’à voler », lui dit une hirondelle qui passait par là.
« Voler ? Mais comment veux-tu que je fasse, je n’ai pas d’ailes ! » s’exclama la toute
petite grenouille.
« Bah ! Alors je ne peu rien pour toi » et l’oiseau s’en alla.
La minuscule grenouille la regarda s’éloigner et soupira :
« Comme j’aimerai aller sur ces nénuphars ! »
« Tu n’as qu’à nager » lui dit une carpe gobant un moustique.
« Nager ? Mais ils sont bien trop loin, je vais me noyer ! » s’exclama la toute petite
grenouille.
« Bah ! Alors je ne peu rien pour toi » et la carpe poursuivit son chemin.
La minuscule grenouille la regarda s’éloigner et soupira :
« Comme je voudrai rejoindre ces nénuphars ! »
« Tu n’as qu’à sauter, tu es une grenouille ! » lui dit un crapaud visqueux qui se
prélassait sur un rocher.
« Sauter ? Mais je suis bien trop petite, jamais je ne pourrais les atteindre ! » s’exclama
la toute petite grenouille.
« Bah ! Alors je ne peu rien pour toi » et le crapaud referma ses yeux globuleux.
La minuscule grenouille soupira :
« Ce n’est pas la peine, jamais je n’y arriverai. »
« Monte sur mon dos, je vais t’y conduire, c’est sur mon chemin. » lui dit une tortue
qui passait par là.

A teeny-tiny frog on a water lily
On the edge of the pond, a teeny-tiny green frog was watching five magnificent
water lilies, over there in the distance.
“What wonderful flowers! What wonderful leaves! It would be so great if I could set
myself upon one of them” the teeny-tiny frog sighed. “But how can you possibly
reach those water lilies when you are as little as I am?”
“You just have to fly”, a flying-by swallow said.
“To fly? But how am I supposed to do, I have no wings?” the teeny-tiny frog
exclaimed.
“Well! Then I can do nothing for you” and the bird flew away.
The teeny-tiny frog watched the swallow fly away and sighed saying:
“How I wish to go upon those water lilies!”
“You just have to swim” a carp said, swallowing a mosquito.
“To swim? But they are way too far away, I am going to drown!” the teeny-tiny frog
exclaimed.
“Well! Then I can do nothing for you” and the carp went his way.
The teeny-tiny frog watched the carp go his way and sighed, saying:
“How I wish to reach those water lilies!”

Radieuse, la toute petite grenouille sauta sans attendre sur la carapace de la tortue.
« Au revoir » lança la tortue en déposant, quelques minutes plus tard, la petite
grenouille sur le premier nénuphar.
Folle de joie, la toute petite grenouille passa une partie de la journée à sauter d’un
nénuphar à l’autre : le premier était trop grand, le second trop mou, le troisième
pas assez doux, le quatrième n’avait pas de fleur, quant au cinquième il était parfait.
La toute petite grenouille huma le parfum grisant de la grande fleur blanche et
finalement s’endormit épuisée. Que c’est beau une petite grenouille sur un
nénuphar !
Mais quand elle se réveilla, le soleil s’était couché, il faisait beaucoup plus frais et
tout à coup la toute petite grenouille se sentit bien seule. Elle réalisa alors qu’elle
était bien loin du bord de la mare.
« Et maintenant, comment je vais faire pour retourner sur le bord de la mare ? »
soupira-t-elle.

“Goodbye” the tortoise said after dropping the teeny-tiny frog on the first water

Paniqués, les fermiers tentent de cacher vaches, cochons et poulets : rien n’y fait,
Terrible réussit toujours à les croquer. Paniqués, les moissonneurs tentent de
moissonner les champs de blé, d’orge et d’avoine : rien n’y fait. Terrible réussit
toujours à les mastiquer.
Animal ou végétal, Terrible n’en fait qu’une bouchée.
Excédé, le peuple du royaume de l’est vient se plaindre au roi :
