Art Nouveau

Decorative style that flourished in western Europe and the U.S. c. 1890–1910. The term was derived in
1895 from a gallery in Paris called L’Art Nouveau. Characterized by sinuous, asymmetrical lines based on
plant forms, the style was used in architecture, interior design, graphic art and design, jewelry, and glass.
