Plus de cent métiers sur le #GEMAB21

A moins de 100 jours de l’ouverture espérée du #GEMAB21, l’activité ne faiblit pas. Depuis octobre 2019,
l’équipe permanente imagine, conçoit et réalise ce que sera la 17 ème édition du Grand Est Mondial Air Ballons,
du 23 juillet au 1er août sur l’aérodrome de Chambley (entre Metz, Nancy et Verdun). Un véritable marathon et
une ligne d’arrivée qui se rapproche.

Communication, régie, logistique, commercialisation, coordination, finances, inscription des pilotes et équipages,
organisation des vols et réglementation sont passés à la loupe par l’équipe permanente d’une douzaine de
personnes, au minimum bilingue. Âge moyen, 24 ans, si l’on excepte Aline et Philippe Buron Pilâtre, les deux
organisateurs ainsi que Denis Martignon en charge des volontaires. L’équipe a eu trois mois pour se mettre
dans le bain, appréhender le puzzle, avant de se lancer dans la course.

Deux cents de onze nations

Son travail à “quai” est relayé par une “task force” d’une trentaine de volontaires qui ont acquis un savoir-faire
au fil des années en matière d’accueil du public et des clients, la communication, l’intendance, la gestion des
envols, les baptêmes de l’air, les animations au sol. Près de deux cents garçons et filles, venus de onze
nations avec une moyenne d’âge de moins de 25 ans viendront les rejoindre.

Pour certains c’est l’occasion de découvrir le monde du travail, de s’initier à un métier. Ainsi, une trentaine de
lycéen(ne)s venus de toute la région Grand Est, vont être sélectionnés en juin pour leur permettre de découvrir le
fonctionnement d’une manifestation internationale.

Depuis 1989, d’anciens étudiants d’universités ou de grandes écoles sont devenus pilotes et participent à la
fête avec leurs familles. Une école de la vie où l’on apprend à vivre en collectivité, à se fondre dans la diversité
sociale et intergénérationnelle.

Malgré l’épée de Damoclès qu’est la pandémie, Pilâtre de Rozier Organisation a foi en l’avenir. Vingt-deux
mois de préparation pour 240 heures de spectacles à couper le souffle. Pour rien au monde ils ne voudraient
manquer cela.

Over 100 skills on the #GEMAB21
With less than 100 days to go, before the hoped-for opening of #GEMAB21, activity is not slowing down. Since
October 2019, the permanent team has been imagining, designing and carrying out the scheme of the 17th
edition of the Grand Est Mondial Air Ballons, from July 23rd to August 1st on the Chambley aerodrome (between
Metz, Nancy and Verdun). A real marathon and a finish line that is getting closer.

Communication, management, logistics, marketing, coordination, finance, registration of pilots and crews, flight
direction and regulatory framework are carefully reviewed by the permanent staff of a dozen people, who are at
least bilingual. The average age is 24, except for Aline and Philippe Buron Pilâtre, the two founding managers,
and Denis Martignon, who is in charge of volunteers. The team had three months to feel the swing of things, to
better understand the puzzle, before getting into the race.

Two hundred people from eleven nations

The permanent staff is supported by a task force of around thirty volunteers who built expertise over the years for
public and customers’ welcoming, communication, logistics, flight direction, first flights, ground entertainment.
Nearly two hundred boys and girls, from eleven nations, with an average age of less than 25 years will
join them for #GEMAB21.

For some, it is an opportunity to discover the professional world, to learn a trade. Among them, thirty or so high
school students from all over the Grand Est Region to be selected in June, as part of a contest to go behind the
scene at #GEMAB21.

Since 1989, former students from universities and business schools have become pilots and participate in the
event with their families. It is indeed a school of life, where everybody learns team skills, to deal with social and
generational diversity.

Despite the sword of Damocles that is the pandemic, the Pilâtre de Rozier Organisation has faith in the future.
Twenty-two months of preparation for 240 hours of breathtaking performances. They wouldn’t want to miss it for
anything in the world.
