How to choose the appropriate size:

Use the size corresponding to bust for the width, and to girth measurement for the length.

Seam and hem allowances are included in the pattern

Unless otherwise instructed:

 Stitch this garment 6 mm (1/4’’) from edge.
 Pieces are assembled right sides together.
 Topstitch using a zigzag stitch, a twin (double) needle or a cover stitch

Jalie sewing technique for stretch fabrics
(if you do not have a serger, use this technique on seams that will need to stretch)
 First stitch: Wide zigzag stitch along the edge of the fabric, without stretching the fabric (fig. 1).
*This stitch will not be shown in the illustrations*
 Second stitch: Straight stitch 6 mm (1/4’’) from edge, stretching the fabric gently (fig. 2) to preserve the seams’ elasticity.

Jalie sewing technique for binding

 Pin right side of binding to wrong side of fabric (fig. 3) and stitch, stretching the binding to fit the opening.
 With the seam allowance towards binding (fig. 4), fold binding to wrong side, over the seam allowance,
bringing raw edge of binding against the stitch (fig. 5).
 Fold the “wrapped seam allowance” along the stitch to bring the folded binding to the right side of the fabric (fig. 6) and topstitch.
 With this technique, the binding is visible on the right side of the fabric and only the topstitching is visible on the wrong side (fig. 7).
1. Leotard
IMPORTANT – SKIRTED LEOTARD: Clearly mark the skirt placement line on the leotard front and back (fig. 8-9) with a
marker or long straight stitch (that you will remove once the skirt is sewn).
 Pin leotard back to leotard front at crotch seam and stitch (fig. 10).
 Pin right side of crotch lining to wrong side of back and stitch (fig. 11).
 Pin wrong side of lining to wrong side of front and baste with a zigzag stitch as shown (fig. 12).
 Pin front to back at side seams and stitch (fig. 13).
 Stitch elastic ends together to form a loop (fig. 14) and divide into fourths with pins (fig. 15).
 Divide leg opening into fourths with pins (fig. 16).
 Pin elastic to wrong side of opening, matching pins (fig. 17).
 Edge stitch using a zigzag stitch (zig on the elastic, zag in the air) and stretching the elastic as you sew to fit the opening (fig. 18).
 Fold sewn elastic to wrong side of fabric, stitch over the first zigzag, stretching the elastic flat as you sew (fig. 19).
2. Bodice – View A
 Pin bodice pieces at shoulder seam and stitch (fig. 20).
 Pin sleeve to armhole and stitch (fig. 21).
 Pin at side and underarm seam (fig. 22-23) and stitch.
 Pin two binding pieces, matching notches (fig. 24) and stitch to form a loop. Mark halves with pins (fig. 25).
 Fold neckline in half and mark with a pin (fig. 26).
 Pin right side of binding to wrong side of neckline, matching pins and seams, and stitch using the technique illustrated in
figures 3 to 7 (fig. 27).
NOTE: If you prefer using elastic for the neckline, use the binding pattern pieces as guides for the elastic lengths and
sew them using the same technique you used for the leg openings (fig. 14-19).
 Turn both bodice pieces right side out and insert one into the other (fig. 28), pin matching centers and side seam and
baste with a zigzag stitch.
IMPORTANT: Before sewing the bodice to the leotard, make sure you identify what is front and back. Use the skirt front
as a guide. You want the shorter side of the top bodice layer to be on the same side (left/right) as the longest side
of the asymmetrical skirt as shown (fig. 29).
3. Bodice – View B
 Pin bodice pieces at shoulder seam and stitch (fig. 30).
 Pin sleeve to armhole (fig. 31) and stitch. Pin side and underarm seams (fig. 32) and stitch.
 Pin binding pieces, matching notches (fig. 33) and stitch to form a loop. Mark halves with pins (fig. 34).
 Pin right side of binding to wrong side of neckline, matching pins and seams (fig. 35), and stitch using the technique
illustrated in figures 3 to 7 (fig. 36).

4. Assembly and Skirt

Turn leotard wrong side out and insert bodice, matching centers and side seams (fig. 37) and stitch.
SKIRTED LEOTARD
Pin skirt front to skirt back at side seams (fig. 38) and stitch.
Pin wrong side of skirt to right side of leotard, at skirt placement line (fig. 39), matching skirt centers with center
marks and skirt seams with leotard side seams. Edge stitch the skirt with a zigzag stitch (fig. 40).
Turn sleeve hem to wrong side (1,5 cm (5/8’’) for cap sleeve, 2 cm (3/4’’) for long sleeve) and topstitch (fig. 41).

Technique de couture Jalie pour tissus extensibles

1. Première couture : point zigzag large directement sur le bord vif du tissu, sans tendre le tissu (fig. 1).
*Ce zigzag ne sera pas montré afin d’alléger les illustrations*
2. Deuxième couture : point droit à 6 mm (1/4") du bord du tissu en tendant légèrement le tissu (fig. 2).
Technique de couture Jalie pour bandes d’encolure
 Épingler l’endroit de la bande sur l’envers du tissu (fig. 3) et coudre.
 Avec le ressource de couture vers la bande, plier la bande sur son envers pour couvrir la ressource de couture (fig. 4) en alignant le
bord vif de la bande avec la couture (fig. 5).
 Replier la « ressource de couture enveloppée » sur l’endroit du tissu, le long de la couture et surpiquer (fig. 6, fig. 7 - de l’envers).
1. Léotard
IMPORTANT - MODÈLE AVEC JUPE : Marquer clairement la ligne d’emplacement de la jupe et le milieu sur le devant et le dos du
léotard (fig. 8-9) avec un marqueur ou un long point droit (que vous retirerez à la fin, après avoir cousu la jupe).
 Épingler le dos au devant et coudre l’entrejambe (fig. 10).
 Épingler l’endroit de la patte d’entrejambes sur l’envers du dos et coudre (fig. 11).
 Ramener la patte sur l’envers du devant, épingler et coudre au point zigzag tel qu’illustré (fig. 12).
 Épingler le devant au dos et coudre les coutures côtés (fig. 13)
 Joindre solidement les extrémités de l’élastique par une couture (fig. 14) et diviser celui-ci en quatre (4) parties égales à l’aide
d’épingles (fig. 15).
 Diviser l’ouverture des cuisses en quatre (4) parties égales à l’aide d’épingles (fig. 16).
 Épingler l’élastique sur l’envers de l’ouverture en faisant correspondre les épingles (fig. 17).
 Exécuter une couture au point zigzag sur le bord du tissu et de l’élastique en tendant celui-ci pour qu’il s’ajuste à l’ouverture (fig. 18).
 Rabattre l’élastique cousu sur l’envers du tissu et le coudre à nouveau, directement sur le zigzag (fig. 19).
2. Corsage – Modèle A
 Épingler les pièces à l’épaule et coudre (fig. 20).
 Épingler et coudre la manche à l’emmanchure (fig. 21).
 Épingler et coudre les côtés et la manche (fig. 22-23).
 Épingler deux pièces de la bande d’encolure en faisant correspondre les crans (fig. 24) et coudre.
 Marquer les centres avec des épingles (fig. 25).
 Plier l’encolure et marquer la demie à l’aide d’une épingle (fig. 26).
 Coudre la bande à l’encolure en suivant la technique de pose de la bande illustrée en fig. 3 à 7 (fig. 27).
NOTE : Si vous préférez utiliser un élastique pour la finition plutôt qu’une bande, utiliser le patron des
bandes comme référence de longueur d’élastique et poser les élastiques en suivant la même technique
que pour l’ouverture des cuisses (fig. 14-19).
 Retourner les deux parties du corsage sur leur endroit et insérer une dans l’autre tel qu’illustré (fig. 28) en
faisant correspondre les crans de milieux dos et devant. Joindre les bords vifs au point zigzag.
IMPORTANT : Avant de joindre au léotard, placer le corsage de façon à ce que le côté étroit soit du
même côté (gauche ou droite) que la pointe de le jupe (la pointe peut être à gauche ou à droite, selon
la façon dont vous l’avez placée sur le tissu au moment de la coupe) (fig. 29).
3. Corsage – Modèle B
 Épingler les pièces à l’épaule et coudre (fig. 30).
 Épingler et coudre la manche à l’emmanchure (fig. 31).
 Épingler et coudre les côtés et le dessous de manche (fig. 32).
 Épingler les pièces de la bande d’encolure en faisant correspondre les crans (fig. 33) et coudre.
 Marquer les centres avec des épingles (fig. 34).
 Épingler la bande (fig. 35) à l’encolure en faisant correspondre les milieux et coudre en
suivant la technique de pose de la bande (fig. 3-7) (fig. 36).

4. Assemblage et jupe
 Tourner le léotard sur l’envers et insérer le corsage à l’intérieur du léotard en
faisant correspondre les milieux dos et devant (fig. 37) et coudre.
MODÈLE AVEC JUPE
 Épingler le devant de la jupe au dos et coudre les côtés (fig. 38).
 Épingler l’envers de la jupe sur l’endroit du léotard, à la ligne de
placement de la jupe (fig. 39) en faisant correspondre les milieux et
coutures côtés et coudre au bord vif de la jupe au point zigzag (fig. 40).
 Tourner le bord vif de la manche sur l’envers de 1 cm (3/8’’) pour le
mancheron ou 2 cm (3/4’’) pour la manche longue et surpiquer (fig. 41).
