– indicates whether a component is
facing up, down, to the left or right High Side
– Relies on gravity for a measurement
so not possible on vertical wells

Survey Program - What are the aims?
Each well should have a well thought out and achievable survey
program
The survey program must have sufficient accuracy to ensure that all
the goals are met
It should consider the total implications to the productivity of the
reservoir while minimising the impact on the operational costs
It should ensure the safe drilling of the current well and protect the
existing nearby wells
Any unplanned event that might change the effectiveness of the
survey program should be reviewed and any changes agreed upon
by all interested parties
