Motivation/Prompting Questions
1. Which martial art is best in your opinion? Why?
Karate is the best martial art. Karate is the best martial arts it is because its
techniques and strategies are not aggressive. It is a kind of martial arts whose physical
aspects seek the development of defensive and counterattacking body movements.
Also its themes are fighting and self defense and target the overall improvement of an
individual.

2. Do you know anything about martial arts history? What?


Yes, as what I have read in the module, martial arts was originated more
than 2000 years ago and sinse haved develop and split into more than 200 styles
existing today

3. Do you think its important to preserve tradition in martial arts? Why?


Yes, it is very important to preserve tradition in martial arts to learn self defense
which is very needed nowadays most especially for us women because we are not
really that strong so learning martials arts is really helpful to increase our physical
strenght.

4. Have you ever seen or heard of the Shaolin monks and their abilities?
Yes, I’ve heard and seen shaolin monks and their abilities but not
personally since I am fond of wathching Kung Fu movies and Chinese Historical
Dramas and I am really impressed of how skillful they are in terms of self defense.

5. Do you think it's useful to study martial arts to defend yourself in today's
world? Why? Why Not?
Yes, it is very useful to study martial arts to defend myself in todays world most
especially that nowadays their are lots of bad guys and women are most like at risk
since we don’t have that same physical strenght that men has so it is very useful to
know how to defend myself in any possible attacks,

6. Do you know the names of different kicks, punches, and stances? What
are these?
Yes, but I only know some of them which are the elbow combo, side kick, front
kick, hook combo, and uppercut combo are some of different kicks and some stances
that I know are high or long, long or short, open or closed, weighted or unweighted,
forward, backward, horse and fiighting stance and I only know one type of punches
which is the snapping punch.

7. What do you think is the most important thing in a martial arts


competition? Discuss.
The most important thing in martial arts competition is self-discipline. It is a
valuable trait that everyone should exercise. It is the art of controlling a person’s
impulses, emotions, behavior, and desires. It also helps people to be respectful and
responsible.

8. What's the coolest Kung fu animal style? Why?


Although Kung fu animal style are all cool but for me the coolest Kung fu animal
style is Leopard because its characteristics are strong, efficient, fast, technical, and
defined by accuracy, capable of stealth attacks.

Discuss the following questions based on your own understanding;


1. Briefly discuss the importance of martial arts in law enforcement
perspective.
The importance of martial arts in law enforcement perspective is that it
prepares the officers and teaches them how to defend theirselves in any possible
attacks and how to act under pressure and make decisions.

2. What do you know about aikido, kendo, judo, karate and tae kwon do?
Explain your answer.
I’m not familiar about aikido, kendo, and judo. I only know about karate and
tae kwon do since I sometimes saw someone here who does it. Karate is a self defense
application on how to win against your apponent and tae kwon do is also a self
defense application and howm to counterattack in unarmed combat making use of
hands and feet as weapons a defenses.

3. How many different kinds of kung fu have you heard of? For example,
do you know the difference between traditional kung fu and modern
wushu? Narrate each if possible.

Shaolin Kung fu is the only Kung fu that I heard of. It is originated in China
and it is one of the oldest, widely used and most famous styles in martial arts. It is
characterized by its focused on real life, active combat.

4. What are the benefits of studying martial arts? (health, self-discipline,


etc.)
The benefits of studying martial arts in terms of health is that I can make you
physically fit and healthy and it can increase your strenght. It also help peoplr to be
self disiplined and know how to be respectful and responsible.
5. How much should a person train in a martial art to become successful?
Explain your reasoning?
It takes many years a person should train in martial arts to become successful.
You can’t just become a martial artist easily. You have to practice yourself and learn
the techniques and strategy persistently for you to develop your skills and be more
flexible till you become successful.

6. What do you think is the most important thing in a martial arts


competition? State your reasoning.
I think the most important thing in a martial arts competion is self defense and
self disipline. You have to avoid every single attack of your opponent and whatever
happens and what the result in your competition you have to respect your opponent
and be responsible.

The benefits and importance of martial arts is that it can make people physically
active. It makes people believe in theirselves that they can. It helps maintain over
emotions, thoughts, and responses. Martial arts were practice for self defense,
competition, physical health and fitness purposes. It can increase physicak strength
and mental toughness, maintain and stabilize one self. It also keeps the body fit, stable
and fine. So overall, martial arts is a journey towards self improvement of mind, body
and soul.

What would you say is the most important thing you learned personally in martial
arts?

I can say that the most important thing that I have learned personally in martial arts is
self defense which is very important skill that I can use in any possible attacks.
