We had to wait four years to be able to
organise the Black and White Biennial again.
The last one was in 2018 in South Africa.
Then the Covid19- pandemic changed all
our plans. Fortunately we can say that today
we are on a new path to normality.
Particularly for this reason I am very pleased
to present the catalogue of the 35th FIAP
Black and White Biennial. The interest in this
type of photography has once again been
confirmed. It is the source of inspiration for
our art and our passion.
Organising a FIAP Biennial is a great
challenge for the organisers. The Oman
team has done it with a high standard and
responsibility. My congratulations.
46 countries from five continents have
presented their collections, making it one of
the largest participations in FIAP Biennials.
We thank them for their participation and
encourage them to continue to present their
photographs in future Biennials. Also to the
members of the jury who had to evaluate the
large number of photographs received.
I would like to reserve a special
congratulations to the participants from
Greece for winning the World Cup for the first
time in a FIAP Biennial. Likewise to those
from Spain who, with the Bronze Medal
achieved in this Biennial and the excellent
results obtained in the Colour Biennial 2019,
have been awarded for the first time the
prestigious «Dr. M. Van de Wijer» Trophy.
Nous avons dû attendre quatre ans pour pouvoir
organiser à nouveau la Biennale Noir et Blanc.
La dernière a eu lieu en 2018 en Afrique du Sud.
Puis la pandémie de Covid19- a changé tous
nos plans. Heureusement, nous pouvons dire
qu›aujourd›hui nous sommes sur un nouveau
chemin vers la normalité.
C›est notamment pour cette raison que je suis
très heureux de présenter le catalogue de la
35ème Biennale Noir et Blanc de la FIAP. L›intérêt
pour ce type de photographie a une fois de plus
été démontré. Elle est la source d›inspiration de
notre art et de notre passion.
L›organisation d›une Biennale de la FIAP est
un grand défi pour les organisateurs. L›équipe
d›Oman l›a fait avec un haut niveau d›exigence
et de responsabilité. Toutes mes félicitations.
46 pays des cinq continents ont soumis leurs
collections, l›une des plus fortes participations
aux Biennales de la FIAP. Nous vous remercions
de votre participation et vous encourageons à
continuer à soumettre vos photographies aux
futures Biennales. Nous remercions également
les membres du jury qui ont dû évaluer le grand
nombre de photographies reçues.
Des félicitations spéciales aux participants de
la Grèce qui ont remporté la Coupe du Monde
lors d›une Biennale de la FIAP pour la première
fois. De même pour ceux d›Espagne qui, avec
la médaille de bronze obtenue lors de cette
Biennale et les excellents résultats obtenus lors
de la Biennale Couleur 2019, ont reçu pour la
première fois le prestigieux Trophée « Dr. M. Van
de Wijer «.

Black and white photographic art has always
been at the center of photographers despite
times and the evolution of technology as it
still represents the spirit and passion.
With the acceleration in the development of
human civilization and the acceleration in
the development of arts and media, the art of
black and white photography still represents
a legacy on one hand, and a continuous
challenge for artists to continue to dazzle the
recipient using grayscale.
Hosting such an artistic event as the 35th
Black and White FIAP Biennial that is tied
with the tradition and heritage of FIAP is a
great honor for the Sultanate of Oman, a
country known for its pride in culture and
cultural exchange with many countries and
international organizations.
Welcome to the Sultanate of Oman.
L›art de la photographie en noir et blanc a
toujours été privilégié par les photographes
malgré les temps et l›évolution de la technologie,
car il représente toujours l›esprit et la passion.
Avec le développement accéléré de la civilisation,
des arts et médias, l›art de la photographie en
noir et blanc représente toujours à la fois un
héritage et un défi constant pour les artistes qui
doivent continuer à éblouir le public en utilisant
les niveaux de gris.
Accueillir un événement artistique tel que la 35e
Biennale FIAP Noir et Blanc, lié à la tradition et
au patrimoine de la FIAP, est un grand honneur
pour le Sultanat d›Oman, un pays connu pour sa
fierté culturelle et ses échanges culturels avec de
nombreux pays et organisations internationales.
