1. DJP is used to replace a noun referring a person, which is placed after any
preposition except the preposition à eg; avec, sans, pour, chez.
Le pronom Y:
ii. The pronom Y also replaces a noun which is the object of, a verb followed
by à Eg: (POI only for humans and animals. When an object follows a verb
linked by à, we use y)
1.Je ne veux pas croire à cette histoire.
Je ne veux y croire.
2.Tu penses à ton avenir?
Tu y penses?
Exception: If the original noun relates to a person in case of the verb penser, i.e
penser +à, the appropriate form of disjunctive pronoun is used.
Penser à + qq’un --- penser à + DJP
Tu penses à ton ami?
Tu penses à lui.
Le Pronom En
i) The pronoun ‘en’ can be used to replaces people, things or abstract noun.
ii) It may replace a noun precedes by de, du, de la, de l’, d’, des
iii) ‘En’ can include any of the 3 meanings of de- of, from and about, as well
as all the meanings of partitif articles.
iv) ‘En’ is used if, after the verb there is- article indéfini- un, une, des
– nombre- un, deux, trois etc.
-article partitive- du, de la, de l’, des, d’
-adverbe de quantité- un peu de, beaucoup de etc.
- any other verbs that takes de-s’occuper de
i. Je parle du professeur
J’en parle.
ii. Il rentre de la plage.
Il en rentre.
iii. Tu achètes des journaux
Tu en achètes.
iv. J’ai beaucoup d’ ami.
J’en ai beaucoup.
EN: De + Noun
En in French is usually translated into of it or about it. But be
careful, in English you can sometimues drop the "of it", but in
French you should never drop the pronoun en.
En replaces the structure partitive article + noun or de + noun.
