There must be two separate power supply sections from the electrical cabinet,
one for the CLC N subsystem and one for the CLC R subsystem. Each power
supply section is connected to a specific multi-socket. The information displayed
is:
· The CLC internal switch does not require an overload switch if the power supply
is supplied by an electrical cabinet fitted with an overload switch. If this is not the
case then an overload switch must be installed.
· If the power supply available in the building where the CLC is installed does not
satisfy the requirements described above then a power supply cabinet satisfying
all the requirements and suitable to power the subsystem must be installed. In
GENERAL GE-001 this instance the cables coming from the electrical cabinet power supply panel Yes CONS-03
(ref. [13]). must be connected to the terminals located at the back of the CLC
cabinet.
· Installation and maintenance must be performed whilst the CLC N or R is
disconnected from the power supply to ensure the safety of the operator. It is not
enough to adjust the rear switch (front for V5 PBS) on each CLC N or R cabinet
or the cabinet multi-socket. Switch OFF the main switch, located on the power
supply panel, or disconnect the rack plugs from the multi-socket.
· External power supply source sizing must ensure a power supply of at least 500
VA for each individual rack.
The requirement must be guaranteed as part of system configuration design.

Only components supplied by ALSTOM must be used as spare parts for the CLC
subsystem. In the CLC subsystem commercially available or COTS components
are identified by ALSTOM codes and labels in the same way as proprietary parts.
GENERAL GE-002 Therefore only components (e.g. Flash Card or Compact Flash) fitted with an Yes CONS-03
ALSTOM identification device should be used.
This requirement must be ensured during installation and throughout the lifecycle
of the subsystem.

The CLC subsystem is designed to be installed in controlled technological rooms.

Therefore:· It is the responsibility of the railway operator to ensure protection
against access by unauthorised personnel (for example monitoring of rooms).·
The CLC cabinet is fitted with a front door and a rear door to enable access to the
GENERAL GE-003 Yes CONS-03
individual hardware components. Both panels are fitted with a lock to prevent
access by unauthorised personnel.
This requirement must be guaranteed during normal operation by the company
responsible for managing the system.
CLC is designed to satisfy the electrical and environmental conditions specified in
IS402 [9], for environments protected against external agents and with a
GENERAL GE-004 controlled climate (A2) with an operating temperature rangingfrom 0°C to +45°C. Yes CONS-03
This requirement must be guaranteed during installation and subsystem
operation.
Altitude is not a particularly significant parameter in terms of CLC equipment
functioning in that solid state components have been used. There are no
pressurised or vacuum components. Therefore, as far as the CLC subsystem is
GENERAL GE-005 concerned, adherence to the European functioning standards up to a maximum of Yes CONS-03
1800 m above sea level is ensured.
This requirement must be guaranteed during installation and subsystem
operation.

On the basis of successful mechanical testing specified in the report [18] and on
the basis of that specified in IS402, the CLC subsystem can be installed in the
GENERAL GE-006 following environment:2V (Environment at least 1 m from the rail). Yes CONS-03
This requirement must be guaranteed during installation and subsystem
operation.
If the system configuration envisages the presence of the IDE panel, remember
that this panel can be connected remotely using a cable with a maximum length
GENERAL GE-007 of 300 m. Yes CONS-03
This requirement must be ensured during the installation and maintenance
stages.
For the connection of the cables inside the cabinet always refer to the assembly
diagrams, list of cables, wiring diagrams, etc. The regulations described below
must be adhered to in order to maximise the immunity of the subsystem to
electromagnetic disturbances. The cables in the CLC subsystem can be divided
into three main groups:
A) Internal logic/communication cables (PSA-N/PSA-R cable, LEA/PSA cables,
etc.) which can also be referenced using the CLC internal cables kit code
P700341001B.
B) Distribution cables for the 220Vac / 230Vac power supply.
C) Cables for external communication (connections with CNET, FNET, ZNET,
DCS-SIG, FDB networks and the IDE panel).
GENERAL GE-008 Yes CONS-03
The path of the cables belonging to group A must be separated as much as
possible from the path of the cables belonging to groups B and C.All the cables
belonging to group C are fed into the lower part of the cabinet. The path of these
cables is then vertical inside the cabinet. The Ethernet cables for connection with
the CNET and DCS-SIG networks are connected on the front of the CLC racks,
channelled towards the back of the cabinet and then fed out of the lower part of
the cabinet.
Once these cables are in the rear part of the cabinet they can be treated in
exactly the same way as those cables connected to the connectors at the back of
the cabinet.
This requirement must be ensured during the installation stage.

Once the cabinet architecture has been defined, the following regulations must be
followed when cabling the cabinet:
1) TThe N/R internal communication cables (e.g. N687056479G, N687056464R
and N687056573K) must be housed in the guides located on the left of the
cabinet.
2) TThe cables connecting the EMUX rack and the connection panel (e.g.
N697056656Z, N697056653W) must be housed in the guides located on the left
of the cabinet.
3) TThe cables connecting the FNET, ZNET, CNET, DCS-SIG, FDB networks and
the IDE panel (e.g. N687056652V, N687056660D, N687056835U) must be
housed in the guides located on the right of the cabinet. Secure the
aforementioned cables inside the guides using straps if necessary.
4) SSecure the 220Vac/230Vac power supply cable, connected to the upper
multi-socket, outside the guides located on the right of the cabinet so that it is as
GENERAL GE-009 Yes CONS-03
far as possible from the cables listed in point 3.
5) PPosition the 220Vac/230Vac power supply cables connecting the multi-
sockets and racks as far away as possible from the cables mentioned in points 1
and 2. If necessary use straps to connect the cables to the rigid part of the
cabinet.
6) OIn the front of the cabinet, channel the CNET and the DCS-SIG networks
connection cables (e.g. N697056660D) towards the back of the cabinet by
passing them through the special holes located on the E037150218F panel
separating the CLC rack from the connection panel. Specifically, use the upper
panel for the CLC N rack and the lower panel for the CLC R rack.
7) Keep these cables as far as possible from the cable connecting the connection
panel (e.g. the Hydra N687056473A cable) and from the N/R connection cables
(e.g. N687056758L / N6870567903T).
This requirement must be ensured during the installation stage

– Dynamic variation less than +/- 10%.
– Frequency variation less than +/- 2%.
– Distortion less than 5%.
– Maximum interruption equal to 10 ms.

A permissive action must be linked to a Boolean variable in the true state.
DESIGN DE-004 This requirement is guaranteed by the design process and system logic validation Yes CONS-03
(Interlocking Principles and Data Preparation).
A permissive action cannot be linked to an input variable non-stabilised pulse

must last for at least two times the CLC subsystem cycle plus any oversight
DESIGN DE-005 Yes CONS-03
cycles that have been set.
This requirement must be guaranteed by the design process and system logic
validation (Interlocking Principles and Data Preparation).

The association of a permissive command to the true state of a variable only

leads to restrictions in the use of sets of variables for defining the command
states: given that the result of an equation which has a (presumed) false value is
not verified in vital mode, the definition of a command state consisting of more
than one variable and also containing some of the variables in the false state
DESIGN DE-006 must be analysed carefully to prevent any error which transforms true to false, Yes CONS-03
tolerated by the subsystem because, by analogy with the functioning of the relay
networks, considered to be not harmful to safety, leads to mistaking the command
in favour of a more permissive command.
This requirement must be guaranteed by the design process and system logic
validation (Interlocking Principles and Data Preparation).

Refusal to use the input variables must be analysed carefully in that a false value
could mean that the input port which acquired the value is damaged (fault not
compromising safety). In this case a false state input variable could be used by
the logic to define a permissive action simply by combining, using an AND logic

operation, the input variable with an enabling condition in the true state following
vital verification that the input port is functioning correctly .
This requirement must be guaranteed by the design process and system logic
