Après avoir rappelé le cadre conceptuel et théorique utilisé dans l’analyse macroéconomique
de long terme (théorie de la croissance), nous nous proposons d’effectuer une recension analytique
de la littérature théorique consacrée aux relations entre croissance économique et pollution. En
raison de l’hétérogénéité qui prévaut tant dans la formalisation que dans les résultats théoriques
des modèles de croissance avec pollution, notre effort de synthèse est centré essentiellement autour
de trois axes de réflexions. Ils font chacun l’objet d’un chapitre particulier.
Dans le premier chapitre, nous montrons en quoi l’introduction de la dimension environne-
mentale (à travers la dimension pollution) dans le modèle de croissance exogène optimale modifie
l’analyse et en particulier l’optimalité de la solution concurrentielle. Nous abordons également
des considérations éthiques, en analysant l’impact du critère de bien-être social sur la dynamique
optimale. Dans le deuxième chapitre, à l’aide de modèles de croissance endogène nous revenons
sur le concept de durabilité. Nous mettons en évidence les conditions (théoriques) pour l’obten-
tion de sentiers de croissance durables. Enfin dans le troisième et dernier chapitre, nous étudions
la littérature sur la décroissance, comme solution au réchauffement climatique.
