Qu'est-ce qu'une préposition ?

• Used before a noun that doesn't specify the gender or
number, or before a verb in the infinitive.
• It's a preposition that can mean "to", "at", "in", etc.,
depending on the context.
• Example: "Je vais à Paris." (I'm going to Paris.)
The difference between "à", "au", "à la", and "aux"
au
• A contraction of "à le". It's used before masculine
singular nouns starting with a consonant.
• It means "to the" or "at the" when referring to a specific
place.
• Example:
• "Je vais au cinéma." (I'm going to the cinema.)

• "à" combined with "le" becomes "à l’…" in front of a
masculine singular noun starting with a vowel or a
silent "h."
