III. Le futur simple

We use the futur simple to talk about things that WILL HAPPEN or we WILL DO. This is DIFFERENT
from the futur proche because that describes what you are GOING to do. The future proche is used
more for things that will happen in the near future.

Formation!

FUTUR STEM + FUTUR ENDINGS

Write the future endings in the box

Most futur stems you can get by taking the INFINITIVE !
Ex: parler parler

finir finir

manger manger
*there is no change here!

With RE verbs you MUST drop the E in the infinitive to get the stem.
crire crir

vendre vendr

attendre attendr

prendre prendr

Write the stems for these verbs! They are irregular!
tre :
devenir :

devoir :

avoir :

obtenir :

pleuvoir :

faire :

vouloir :

appeler :

aller :

acheter :

venir :

IV. Le conditionnel

We use the conditional tense to talk about things that people WOULD do or things that WOULD
happen if a certain situation/criteria were met.

Formation ! FUTUR STEM + IMPARFAIT ENDINGS

Write the IMPARFAIT ENDINGS HERE

And those futur stems you spent all that time looking for in your
book ? You get to use them again !!

V. Si + Quand clauses
Here are your formulas !

1. SI + PRESENT, FUTUR SIMPLE. or
PF
Exemples :

If I have a million dollars, I will buy a boat. Si jai un million dollars, jachterai un bateau.

If I have money, I will travel. Si jai de largent, je voyagerai.

If I go to the store, I will buy apples. Si je vais au supermarch, jachterai des pommes.

If you dont come to RISE, you will not pass this exam.
Si vous ne venez pas RISE, vous ne russirez pas cet examen.

2. SI + IMPARFAIT, CONDITIONEL.
or

Exemples :

If I were rich, I would give you some money. Si jtais riche, je te donnerais de largent.

If I had money, I would travel. Si javais de largent, je voyagerais.

3. QUAND + FUTUR SIMPLE,

FUTUR SIMPLE.
When I have money, I will travel. Quand jaurai de largent, je voyagerai.

*NOTE : this is DIFFERENT in English. You CANNOT literally translate because the French use
this DIFFERENTLY.

The future is also used after quand when the main clause is in the IMPERATIVE and a future
event is implied.
