OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 8 –9

1.
Right to truth
Technology allows ideas to be communicated
instantly, globally and directly. Bias, half- truths
and lies are being used to shape political
agenda, hold back action on climate chaos,
justify conflict and create barriers for debate.
We must enforce high standards on all
communication platforms and governments,
to limit malign lobbying and propoganda, and
provide fact-based information so that our
collective decisions are grounded in knowledge
and logic, not fear and division.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 10 – 11

2.

Right to the
protection
of biodiversity
Our biosphere is a complex system which
requires many interdependencies to function.
Mass consumption, exploitation of land and
minerals, and intensive monoculture farming
practices have led us to the start of the sixth
mass extinction and potential system collapse.
The degradation of the natural environment
must be reversed and biodiverse environments
protected to ensure the planet can maintain
a predicitable climate that will sustain life and
avoid displacement of the most vulnerable.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 12 – 13

3.

Right to access the

essential commons
It is the responsibility of governments to
maintain, on behalf of all people, the good
health and access to the common elements
we need to live; water, air, natural spaces,
natural resources. These fundamental things,
essential for life, must not be owned and
exploited by corporations only for profit.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 14 – 15

4.

Right to an
ethical economy
All corporations must operate responsibly.
All governments must cooperate to ensure
that large corporations across all industries
pay their taxes in regions where they operate
and ensure that the business generates jobs
and opportunities to benefit those societies.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 16 – 17

and the exploitation
of empire
Countries must be free and independent to
allow their citizens to benefit from their local
natural resources, own and express their
cultural heritage, and practice their language.
No interference, influence or profiteering from
former colonial powers – expressed through
forms of economic represssion, apartheid,
occupation or racism – should be endured.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 18 – 19

6.

Right to universal
basic income

OLI SCARFF / AFP

Everyone who finds themselves in a time of
need should easily have access to a regular
payment that prevents them from falling
below the poverty line. It should provide a
safety net from destitution and a route back
to personal independence.

over your body
Everyone should be able to establish
fundamental facts about themselves;
how they identify with their body, who
they have sexual relationships with, if they
will continue a pregnancy, that in childhood
they are protected from interference with
their sexual organs, how they live with dignity
in old age. Medical care should be available
for all to support this.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 22 – 23

8.

Right to equal access

to advancements in
medicine
As progress in medical care and interventions
expand these developments must be available
to all people. Our response to global pandemics
must be highly cooperative and not limited by
financial gain.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 24 – 25

9.

Right to protect our

digital lives
As more of our lives are spent and managed
online we must protect them to be fair and
equitable spaces. In a highly interconnected
and monitored environment our personal data,
biometric data, behaviour and relationships
must not be exploited without knowledge or
consent and their use should be clearly stated
and understood.
OUR RIGHTS. OUR FIGHT. OUR FUTURE. 26 – 27

10.

Right to ensure
human direction
and control over
artificial intelligence
As more processes become automated and the
speed of decision making increases we must
ensure that the development and the remit for
using artificial intelligence to facilitate industry
and governance does not exceed the influence
and interventions of people. Any system that
serves people should be ultimately controlled
by people.
