4-3-2. TV POWER ON SEQUENCE TEST: Simplified Version (without meter)

1. Verify Standby Light

-- If missing perform Standby Test / Function Test

2. Power the TV On

99 Standby LED changes and TV Powers On

3. If Standby light won’t change (doesn’t turn off or flash)

99 Check with both Remote & Function Control Power commands

-- If still no change perform Function test
-- If OK replace Main Board

4. If Standby LED Flashes and TV won’t power on

• Disconnect Panel Cables from Main Board
• Power the TV On

-- If TV now Powers On replace Panel
-- If TV still won’t Power On replace Main Board

5. Verify Audio is OK & Backlights Turns On

• If No Audio perform “Audio Troubleshooting” Test
• If No Backlight perform “Backlight Test”

4-3-3. TV POWER ON SEQUENCE Test: Extended Version

1. Power TV On

99 POWER ON .2Vdc (when off) changes to 3.3Vdc (on)

• Note: Will stay On for short time when powered off.

2. If voltage error or no change:

99 Jog Function & IR Control Test

3. If OK replace Main Board:

99 All 13V supplies for approx. 12.7VDC

4. If any wrong voltages, remove SMPS connector to Main Board:

99 All A13V again for 12.7VDC

-- If voltages are now OK replace the Main Board
-- If voltages are still wrong replace SMPS

5. Verify Backlight Turns On

• If No Backlight

99 Check PWM1 & PWM2 Backlight On/Off & Dim Controls:

for approx. 1Vdc – 2.5Vdc depending on backlight dimming level.
-- If missing/error replace Main Board.
-- If OK perform backlight test

4-10
Troubleshooting

4-3-4. BACKLIGHT Test

1. Activate Backlights Test : Disconnect Lead Cable from Main to Power supply.

99 TV Screen for active backlight LEDs.

2. If No BACKLIGHTS

99 Check BL Supplies (CH1, CH2) on SMPS (approx. 270Vdc for 65”)

99 Also Check CH3, CH4 included for TVs 75” & larger
-- If missing replace SMPS Board.

3. If BACKLIGHTS ON BUT PANEL BL or BL Section is “Yellow” or “Blue”

99 Use same “No Backlights” test for step 2.

BACKLIGHT DIMMING PROBLEMS

-- Reconnect lead cable from Main to SMPS (TV in normal operation)
-- Go to Menu > Picture > Expert Settings > Backlight and vary level (0 ~ 50)
-- If no backlight changes are observed vary the level again:

99 Check PWM1 (Blue) / PWM2 (White) control voltages (CNM801) varies approx. 0.5V – 2.5Vdc (dark to bright)
-- If either one doesn’t vary voltage replace Main/T-Con Board.
-- If both vary voltage replace SMPS.

* NOTE: If only one PWM varies the screen backlight will get dimmer but change color shade to yellow or blue.
