 LOCALISATION GEOGRAPHIQUE

• Situé dans la région du nord( chef lieu : Garoua) à 150 Km au Sud-Est de Garoua
(Nolla et al., 2015) dans le département du mayo Rey(chef lieu: Tcholiré) et les
affleurements sont visibles à Gouga, Mbissiri, Koum et Djarendi …

• Situé entre les latitudes N8° 11’24’’et 8° 30' 00’’ et les longitudes E14° 07‘36’’ et
15°00’00’’ (Nolla et al.,2015)

• Allongé dans la direction E-W environ 90Km de long et 20Km de large avec une
epaisseur moyenne de 4300m (Nolla et al.,2015)

 LITHOLOGY TYPE

• The whole range of continental facies is represented:

polygenic conglomerates, gres, siltites, and shales.
• A total of 08 litho-facies were identified

• The basement is made up of metamorphic and plutonic
formations, notably gneiss and granite formations

 PALEONTOLOGY
• The sedimentary depositional environment is Lacustre to
fluvio –lacustre with a tidal influence

There is a presence of several fosills shown and proved as

follows:

• Traces of bioturbation
• Branchiopod and fossilised plant (Lawrence et al., 1987)
• Bivalves
• Dinosaur footprint (tridactyl) (Lawrence et al., 1987)
• Insects
• Ostracods
• Pollen grain (Lawrence et al., 1987)
