1.1. Test Provisions

The inspection was carried out according to the requirements of the Council
Directive of the European Communities 97/24/EC Chapter 9 of June 17,
1997 including all amendments up to 2006/120/EC of 27 November 2006.

2.2.1. General requirements

The silencer complies with the Directive under normal conditions of use,
regardless of any vibrations to which it may be subjected. It is reasonably
corrosion resistant. The ground clearance provided by the silencer originally
fitted and the possible inclined position of the motorcycle are not reduced.
Unduly high temperatures do not exist at the silencers surface. Its edges are
neither sharp nor jagged. Adequate clearance of spring parts is provided.
The silencer is tamper-resistant in a way that it is compatible with clearly-
defined maintenance and installation requirements.
2.2.2. Silencers containing fibrous materials:
The inspections showed that the replacement silencer fulfills the
requirements of Annex III, item 2.3.1. of the directive (conditioning of the
replacement silencer by continuous road operation).

2.2.4. Requirements concerning the motorcycle performance

The difference in engine power and maximum measured speed does not
exceed ± 5%.
2.3. Remarks
2.3.1. General
Inspection items are only applicable to items which have been tested.
For the inspections under points 2.2.3. to 2.2.4. the vehicle had to undergo
comparison tests with the following fittings:
- with exhaust systems corresponding to the one fitted to the vehicle types
at the time of the granting of the EEC-type approval and
- with exhaust systems as separate technical unit
2.3.2. Measures taken against air pollution
Requirements according to the Council Directive of the European
Communities 97/24/EC Chapter 5 have not been tested on these
replacement silencer versions.
Since extension 2, the original exhaust emission components, described in
Annex B, remain unchanged when fitting the replacement silencer.
2.3.3. Mounting restrictions
The replacement silencer is to be mounted in substitution to the original
silencer and has to be fitted with the original exhaust emission components
described in Annex B.
2.4. Test facilities
Calibration of measuring and test equipment used to carry out the
inspections is in accordance with the EEC-Directive and/or ECE-Regulation
stated in 1.1. of this report and with ISO 17025.
Inspectors stated under 2.2. of this report were in charge of performing
and/or evaluating the tests.
3. Evaluation of test results
3.1. Variants and equipment covered

The tests carried out cover the following vehicle variations and equipment
as far as these are relevant for sound level:
- Vehicle version as stated in Annex B

- Middle and rear silencers, exhaust tubes and endpipe as stated in Annex B

4. Statement of compliance
The inspections items and measurements carried out have shown the
compliance of the vehicle type described in this report and the attached
Annex with the requirements of the Council Directive of the European
Communities 97/24/EC Chapter 9 of June 17, 1997 including all

NOTICE DE MONTAGE
1) Déterminer quelles sont les parties de l’échappement à changer.

Les tubulures de liaison à proximité des silencieux endommagés sont souvent à changer également.
2) Contrôler également les éléments de fixation, tels que les sangles, caoutchoucs, vis, écrous,
colliers, bagues, etc…
3) Couper le silencieux d’origine à l’endroit indiqué sur la partie droite de la tubulure (pointage) et
le démonter.
4) Lubrifier les assemblages avant montage avec de la graisse graphitée.
5) Monter le nouvel échappement sans le serrer. Aligner toutes les parties de l’échappement et
bloquer les serrages.
6) Contrôler l’étanchéité du montage en faisant tourner le moteur, véhicule à l’arrêt.
7) Resserrer les fixations après 100 km
