It is since 1994 that, to sensitize the national and international opinion to the fight against
poverty, disease, misery and exclusions of all kinds in urban and rural areas, Mrs. Chantal BIYA,
the wife of the head of the he Cameroonian State has decided to create the foundation that bears
his name. Apolitical, non-denominational, non-profit, humanitarian association, the Chantal
BIYA foundation, governed by law n°90/053 of 19 December 1990 on freedom of association in
Cameroon, has been recognized as being of public utility by decree n °99/098 of April 30, 1999.
From now on, the Chantal BIYA foundation benefits from the special consultative status of the
Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. The mother and child center was created on
February 23, 1999 within the Chantal BIYA foundation, which is also a member of the Mother
and Child network of the Francophonie.
Geographic location
The mother-child center of the Chantal BIYA Foundation is located in the center province
in Yaoundé rue Henri DUNANT at a place called Messa district to the right of the main entrance
of the Yaoundé central hospital and to the left of the main entrance from the pastoral center of
Yaoundé.

Health training services
The Mother and Child Center of the Chantal Biya Foundation has several buildings
divided into different medical services, namely:

When the patient arrived at the CME-FCB, he first went to the reception department, then to the
cash desk, then to the emergency department, which was responsible for directing patients to
other departments after consulting them. .

RECEPTION SERVICE
Organization
Emergency
This service operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. It is made up of a paramedical team of 12
personnel including a major who works permanently and coordinates activities and a
coordinator. This service takes care of cases that come to consult in emergencies.
In this service we find: 6 consultation tables, 2 trolleys, trays, 3 sinks, tables and a cabinet.

Bearing system
CME-FCB's NNA and NNB services operate 24/7. The working hours are the same in both
departments, namely divided into 03 shifts per day on the following sections:
a team that works from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
a team that works from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
a team that works from 6 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
This rotation system is carried out between five teams, namely A, B, C, D, E. In the neonatology
departments, a team is made up of two staff in NNB and five teams of one-one staff in NNA. In
all these services the major and the coordinators are on duty. This shift system is the right system
to ensure good patient care by monitoring and administering care at agreed times.
Care planning
Care was provided in the emergency room based on the arrival of the child and his reaction to
first aid. When it happened that the children slept in the emergency room, care was planned
according to the time they received first aid
Care in the neonatology department took place at the following times: 9 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., 9
p.m., 1 a.m.
