new generation | bouché : full, blocked, clogged | franco-britannique : French-British,
French and British
=> Concorde, the impossible succession / an impossible succession
Fifty years after the first flight of the French-British supersonic plane, the sky is
clogged for descendants which are still too noisy/for a new generation that remains
too noisy.
Thierry Vigoureux, Le Point, 01/03/19
noblesse « supersoniques » atteignant Mach 1.05.
« supersoniques » : reaches supersonic status, acquires its title as a supersonic plane,
joins the ranks of supersonic planes… | équipage : crew | mécanicien : mechanic | sain :
(sens général) sane ; (ici) safe, secure, stable, sound | panne : failure, dysfunction
=> Fifty years ago, on March 2nd/March 2 1969, the French-British Concorde project
became a reality. It made its first flight with André Turcat and his co-pilot Jacques

maiden flight occurred on a Sunday, because the HD whole week in Toulouse had

Toulouse had been disrupted by fog and by the south-eastern wind all week. || We

to observe that [the] in-flight behavior remains safe even after a
failure/dysfunction./… and dared force one of the four engines to shut down, in order
to observe that in-flight behavior remains sound even in case of failure.

of the supersonic plane has not been smooth sailing. The first commercial flights for

flight tests in Toulouse and Filton for seven years. Recently, the A350 only required
eighteen months of testing…
