Taking a “bite” out of

fuel burn with Sharklets
Sharklet™ wingtip devices for the A319 and other
members of Airbus’ A320 Family are part of a long-term
enhancement programme to ensure Airbus’ single-aisle
aircraft product line remains highly competitive,
efficient, and airport-friendly for years to come.

The impressive 2.4-metre-tall Sharklets provide

aerodynamic improvements that bring multiple benefits
for operators, including 15% lower fuel burn, reduced
emissions, increased range and payload, better take-
off performance and rate-of-climb, higher optimum
altitude, and reduced engine maintenance costs.

Incorporated on newly-built A319s, Sharklets also are

available for retrofit on earlier A319ceo jetliners.

Opening new horizons

with the A319neo
The A319’s already-excellent performance has been
significantly enhanced with the A319neo variant.

It incorporates two advanced engine choices – Pratt &

Whitney’s PurePower PW1100G-JM; and the LEAP-1A
from CFM International – which are integrated along
with Airbus’ Sharklets.

This solution offers maximum benefits with minimal

changes from the baseline the A319 – reducing fuel
burn by 30% when compared to previous generation
aircraft, and extending flight ranges of up to 500nm
(900km) or increasing the payload by two tonnes.
