Bonne
soirée à vous deux.
1. The general contractor introduces himself and gives the objectives of the meeting
(1) Hello everyone, I am the site manager M.RAMIREZ. The objective of the day is to check if
we are still respecting the construction schedule and safety standards.
TOM (1) One of you will take notes throughout the meeting, so you would take notes
M.(BAUMARD). (Pointing finger).
3. All members introduce themselves and give their roles in the construction phase
LUCAS (2) Hello, I am Mr. (POUVREAU), the guarantor of safety on the construction site.
4. All members including the general contractor give their opinion about the
construction schedule and equipment needed (excavation will start week 26).
(1) What is your opinion on the construction schedule M.(POUVREAU) and M.(BAUMARD)?
(3) There is a delay in delivery on the electrical ducts, I could not progress as I wished this
morning with my colleagues.
(1) This is problematic, the order has been delayed; it will arrive tomorrow morning at the
site and at most tomorrow afternoon.
(2) I noticed that on the site we have storage problems, welded meshes are placed in the
middle of an access path. Workmen may trip over it. They have to be moved.
(2) No, the waterproofers must pass their second layer of tightness.
(3) Yes, at the beginning of next week there will be a cold snap, temperatures will drop to -
5°C (minus five degrees celsius) . For bricklayers, it will not be possible to pour concrete.
(1) Good point, we will pour concrete after this cold snap. How long will it last?
(2) It will be necessary to find out about the weather forecast for the coming days.
(1) During the cold spell the bricklayers will not work. At -5°C it is useless to want to work
the concrete. This unforeseen event will cause us to delay our project. We have already
fallen behind due to deliveries.
(3) Is there another problem on the job site that I want to talk about. The communication on
construction sites is often delicate, to reach someone on the other side of the construction
site.
(2) On the site, mobile phones are strongly discouraged. Not everyone has it on them.
(3) I talked about it with other trades on the site. Each group of workers should have a
walkie-talkie, so everyone can be aware of changes and information on the job site.
(3) And so we can deliver the site on time. We'll have to order a dozen walkie-talkies for the
whole site, chief.
(1)Ok. I have analyzed our turnover for the month, and it is down because we are unable to
find new workers. That's why I had the idea of hiring apprentices to better advance the site.
(3) To remedy the problem, the ladders must be strapped in such a way as to make them
immobile. The same goes for scaffolding.
(2) This is a good idea. In addition, to ensure safety, any personnel entering the site without
steel-toe boots, gloves and a hard hat can’t be accepted on the site.
(1) From tomorrow I will apply this rules on the construction site.
(3) One last thing to work safely. Electrical panels connected to earth with circuit breakers
should be installed. It's dangerous to work in the rain right now.
(2) I understand, the presence of a circuit breaker is very important on a construction site.
M.(RAMIREZ) you must put some in each building.
(1) Well, I will order circuit breakers for the construction site this evening in this case. Do
you have anything else to tell me?
(2) No.
6. The general contractor asks questions to set a date for the next meeting/frequency
for the next meetings
(1) Gentlemen, this is the end of this meeting. We will continue to do one every week. Next
Tuesday is fine with everyone.
(2) Yes.
(3) No, I'm on another site that day, can we move to Wednesday.
(1) Me too. In this case the next meeting will take place next Wednesday. Good evening to
you both.
