Root resorption
and orthodontic management
of traumatized teeth

RÉSUMÉ
Les chocs peuvent provoquer des fractures coronaires, des fractures radiculaires, des
fractures corono-radiculaires, des concussions, des sub-luxations, des extrusions, des
luxations latérales, des impactions et des avulsions. Les facteurs et mécanismes de
résorption radiculaire seront abordés dans un premier temps. Puis, les séquelles paro-
dontales, et leurs conséquences du point de vue orthodontique seront discutées.
ABSTRACT
Injuries to the teeth can provoke crown fractures, root fractures, crown-root fractures,
concussions, subluxations, extrusive luxations, lateral luxations, intrusive luxations and
avulsions. Mechanisms and types of post-traumatic root resorption will be first described.
Then, the attachment apparatus damages and their consequences as related to orthodontic
management will be discussed.
